Welcome coach Dunleavy! Hope you don't like fans.

Who is this clown? Obviously he is jealous of our academics and our winning record against his school but I also sense he may be worried that we are the biggest threat to his school's alleged Big 12 invite. Every time he runs his mouth about Tulane it is just the fear talking. He knows we are more then capable of being the next big thing in this conference.

BC1 is a troll of course but with that said, it's extraordinarily hard to get a -235 rep.

I like the hire. We needed a splash hire and immediate winner, and I think we got it.

Definitely a big name. Immediate winner? I don't know. He hasn't coached a winning team in 10 years. He only had 7 winning seasons in 17 years. He's never coached college basketball. Big name but big risk hire. But I think it's better than prior hires if he's up for the college game

Comical. Tulane "owns" UC because it won one game in a decade when some guy hurls up a 45-foot shot with three guys hanging on him, and it magically goes in. Meantime, Cincinnati 31 has all-time NCAA appearances, and 6 Final Fours and Tulane has --what, maybe 3 tournament appearances and not close to a sniff of a Final Four and will never have one anytime soon. Maybe WaveFan forgot to take logic or math in his illustrious Tu-lame academic training.

Tulane sources saying the basketball budget was nearly tripled to attract Dunleavy. Should have the funding for a strong staff.

This board will melt down if Tulane actually starts winning. Good news (for this board) is that it probably won't happen - but I appreciate the effort from our new AD. We're TRYING to win - whether it happens or not.

Actually I think you'd be surprised at how many people WANT Tulane to do something good. To date all Tulane has been is a chance for an ugly loss if one of our teams come unprepared. I'd love for Tulane to come to Houston riding a 6 or 7 game winning streak and have some momentum behind them.

Once you're in the AAC most people here want you to succeed, I don't think Tulane is a sleeping giant, but I do think there is opportunity to carve some of the new Orleans market out for TU, and get an SMU type basketball team. Baseball is already pretty good, don't see you guys ever doing that great in football. In a dream season I see Tulane 10-2.

It's no more an issue here than it is at Duke, Standford, Harvard, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, etc.

Lots of people who don't know jack about Tulane think they have all the answers. Tulane had an institutional problem with their prez and Ad-- they did not believe in D1 athletics. They wanted to go DIII. The allumni and donors bullied them into staying D1 but their hearts were never in it. They thought they were smarter than everyone else, and could pioneer a "Tulane model." Google it. They honestly thought they could run a D1 Atheltics program with nothing more than shoestring budgets, true student athletes, and some plucky believers at the helm.

They were wrong. And there were fired because of it. The last 20 years are over. Those who don't know Tulane? Assume the next 5 years will be like the last five years at your own peril.

This is a university that has undergone massive change. The president and AD are gone. The board has changed, and we have ownership from two different NFL franchises with seats on the board and major chips on the table. We intend to win. And whether or not you believe in us doesn't matter.

So you had SMU's Ken Pye who wanted to shut down athletics after the death penalty and it took 20 years to lessen his grip

11am Central press conference tomorrow Tuesday when Mike is officially announced as our next head men's basketball coach. Great move to hire him by our new AD Troy Dannen. Then heading up river to Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge to defeat the Tigers. Roll Wave

That's a swing and a miss. Unless you'll make the same joke at some of the current Final Four head coach ages.
