Yeah, but he led UD to a NCAA tournament appearance...
Overall, yeah, but not in conference.
Ross: .418 overall, .441 in conference, 1 NCAA tournament in 10 years
Shaver: .438 overall, .401 in conference, 0 NCAA tournaments in 13 years
Additionally, to compare apples to apples, after his first 10 seasons, Shaver's winning percentage was .382 overall (116-188) and .333 in conference (60-120)
Additionally, Delaware didn't play a non-DI team in his tenure. Eliminating DII and DIII teams for Tony's record puts his win percentages down to .422 overall and .369 overall in his first 10 seasons.
So, if you're asking how we would view Ross's record after 10 years with an NCAA tournament birth and a significantly higher winning percentage than our current coach, the answer is that we'd probably love him and build him a statue.
ETA: I think a lot of it comes down to personalities, as well. Shaver has a great personality and is a stand-up gentleman. As I understand it, Ross was a bit difficult.
