I'm most curious about Mosley, Sneizek, and Congo.
Some players changed numbers and a couple LB/S are now listed as S with single digit #s.
Not knocking any of these players. However, only two of them (Reuben and Sniezek) ever saw significant game action, as far as I know. Always thought Reuben could have made a good OLB if he could bulk up. He had an uphill battle getting on the field at safety last year and faced the same odds this year. Good special teams contributor.
Mosley, for all his promise was likely going to be third or fourth on depth chart coming into camp.
Congo could have provided some depth at DT, but was at best the 5th DT on the squad behind (Stephens, McDonald, Murray, and VJ). Likely that Ahola or Gryder would slide inside before Congo saw time. He was a 4th year senior and likely opted to graduate and move on.
Sniezek impressed for a walk-on when pressed into service due to injuries last season. His absence does hurt depth, but he was unlikely to play barring a rash of injuries again.
Yankovich was a jack of all trades and good athlete playing some CB, RB and QB during his time. Unfortunate that depth a CB and RB meant he was unlikely to ever see the field though.
Lot of time and commitment to play this sport and be a full-time student, so no faulting any of these guys for hanging it up before the season starts.
All things considered, I'll take this off-season attrition and head into camp with all the key cogs in place and presumably healthy.
