WTF? does this mean???????????

From his interview video, he pronounces it like the Italian city, Milan, not Millen. But still a zing.

RE: College Transfers
Here is the official release from W&M on the newest member of the Tribe, Matt Milon! Welcome Matt!

3 year team captain in HS means he must have some leadership gifts. Seems like a really good fit. Now let's get a strong PG in the 2017 class to get the ball to all these weapons, and keep developing our bigs. We are gonna bang down that NCAA tourney door real soon.

Kwesi has averaged 1 point per game over 3 years for Northeastern. HUGE get for Richmond. Congrats.

Don't know what Richmond saw in this klutz...he has no speed, no shot and, as I remember him, couldn't jump six inches off the floor.

Troy Harper transfers from Campbell to Drexel. Before WM signed Milon ESPN listed WM as a possible landing spot for Harper but he's from Philly so Drexel was always a better fit and I would rather have Milon anyway.

This sounds like a few guys we saw wearing The Green and Gold back in the pre-Tony days.

Ok, well may have to do a "work around" on that

I should have asked about Jhalil when #2 was assigned to Jalen Christian.

RE: College Transfers
Several guys are gone. A few would've been seniors and may have graduated early or realized they'd never play and decided to forego their final season.

Mosley
Yankovich
Brown
Reuben
Sniezek
Whalen
Huddleston
Gardner (again)
Congo

I'm most curious about Mosley, Sneizek, and Congo.

Some players changed numbers and a couple LB/S are now listed as S with single digit #s.

Not knocking any of these players. However, only two of them (Reuben and Sniezek) ever saw significant game action, as far as I know. Always thought Reuben could have made a good OLB if he could bulk up. He had an uphill battle getting on the field at safety last year and faced the same odds this year. Good special teams contributor.

Mosley, for all his promise was likely going to be third or fourth on depth chart coming into camp.

Congo could have provided some depth at DT, but was at best the 5th DT on the squad behind (Stephens, McDonald, Murray, and VJ). Likely that Ahola or Gryder would slide inside before Congo saw time. He was a 4th year senior and likely opted to graduate and move on.

Sniezek impressed for a walk-on when pressed into service due to injuries last season. His absence does hurt depth, but he was unlikely to play barring a rash of injuries again.

Yankovich was a jack of all trades and good athlete playing some CB, RB and QB during his time. Unfortunate that depth a CB and RB meant he was unlikely to ever see the field though.

Lot of time and commitment to play this sport and be a full-time student, so no faulting any of these guys for hanging it up before the season starts.

All things considered, I'll take this off-season attrition and head into camp with all the key cogs in place and presumably healthy.

RE: College Transfers
Reuben is a real concern for me. What does the 2 deep look like at safety now? We've got DiPietro, Barta, and Fullum all as juniors but who after that? Bearfield? Hayes? Parker? Do we pull over another corner? Drop a linebacker?

I don't think safety is a concern. All 6 guys you named, IMO, could start. Hayes, also IMO, may be our next star in the secondary.

RE: College Transfers
Yankovich, Brown and Congo all passed on a fifth year. Two-deep at safeties probably DiPietro, Barta, Parker and Bearfield. Hayes and frosh Isaiah Laster will push.

Why is all this in a basketball thread?
