NCAA Men's BB Coach's salaries
We are getting a bargain with Penny. This article lists the top 28 NCAA men's BB coaches, by salary:

https://www.thestreet.com/lifestyle/spor...s-14774331

Initial observations: Schools getting ripped off: #4 Tennessee, #12 Utah, #16 Texas, #21 Houston, #25 Missouri, #26 Ole Miss & #28 UConn.
At least Houston & TN won their league titles with their current overpaid coaches.

These salaries are outrageous, but the one that really blows me away is Kermit Davis getting $2.85MM to coach at Ole Miss. They must think he's going to do at Ole Miss what Pearl is doing at Auburn. Incredible.....

Houston is ranked #21 in the country and is paying #21 Salary.

UTenn was ranked #1 at a point last year...And have a top 5 class coming in.

The other 5 I agree with.

Kermit is a good coach, his pay is probably close to his value.

Agree memtigbb! If you ever get a chance to go to a Kermit Davis practice, go. Impressive. He knows the game. His practices are high energy and efficient. Any coach could learn something from watching him in action. I just hate he went to Ole Miss.

I also like Mic Cronin, a Pitino protege. At that salary he better produce quickly.
Rick Barnes is a solid coach. I don't like the guy. He coaches a boring style. And he's a UT prick. But love seeing Tennessee continue to try to buy wins. Way too much $$ for Barnes.
Gregg Marshall is well worth the $. Glad Wichita St has been able to hang on to him. I picture him taking a UNC, Duke, Kansas, UK job for $10M one of these years when an old dude retires.
Archie Miller is overpaid. Just ask an IU fan.
Lon Kruger LOL.
Surprises me Shaka Smart hasn't done more.
Tony Bennett is as good as there is. He's a Brad Stevens type. Bargain. Again, it's a boring style.
Chris Mack has also been a good hire. Boring bball.
Illinois and Missouri are tough places to win at. Illinois is one of those great mysteries. They love bball. Chicago is full of talent. Can't get it done.

Happy to role with Penny any day! Especially at the price! And he brings his own swag, clothing line, shoes, custom Mercedes recruiting van......GTG

The guy at Utah turned one Sweet Sixteen trip into a huge contract. I remember that after that tournament run his name was a hot topic. And Utah didn't want to lose him, so they tied him up. That haven't done anything since that sweet 16 trip.

There was actually an article on an OM site recently that pretty much laid out that case.

Rick Barnes' & Kermit Davis' contracts show the benefits of being in a P5 conference, and getting all of that football money. I expect both TN & Ole Miss are losing money in basketball, but who cares when you get $50MM every year from the SEC TV contract.

I'm curious how much Geno Auriemma makes coaching UConn's highly decorated women's team, compared to Dan Hurley's salary.

The UConn women’s coach makes $2.4M, fwiw.

I didn't see Tubby on that list, he makes 3.25 million a year. For a bit longer.
