To sum up

7th seed if EMU wins and NIU loses

8th seed if EMU wins and NIU wins

9th seen if EMU loses.

One if the best games played in a long time. From 15 up to 15 down and then they clamped it down defensively and pull out the win.

RE: Game Day (a day earlier): NIU (Senior Night)
lets leave trump out of hoops discussions what I find sad is that at half time guys were ready to call for Murphy to be fired and that's not right another group here thinks mr half effort raven lee is an NBA player as in politics hoops fans here tend to create their own reality time to put away the Murphy pitchforks for another year great win last night

All of the hundreds and hundreds, maybe thousands, of post on this season maybe could be summarized as follows:

"We are a .500 team, maybe one game better or one game worse, depending on those fellows in the striped shirts."

.500 implies a lot went right and a lot went wrong which was certainly true. Some good wins. Some bad losses. Some highlights and lowlights made SportsCenter (sorry refs folks have forgotten Bonds' dunk but remember your 'highlight').

BTW, if anyone doesn't know how crazy sports are and how 'each day is a different day' (or each game is a different game), BSU scored a grand total of 57 ( fifty seven) last night after scoring 115.

Losing LWH before school even started last fall was a huge hit. We basically lost our top assist guy and leader Talley and Ward and had to "rebuild" our center position with a complete unknown. Plus with all the newcomers this year it took time for the newcomers to "jell" and I'm sure with the 2-3 zone some arent' still learning even at this stage of the season. Hustlebelt has Raven Lee has the second best player in the MAC after Chris Fowler of CMU, very disappointed that Raven didn't move forward or mature as both a leader and player this year. Thompson played with fire at the beginning of the season, thankful to be a Div I court and showed it, lack of control took its tool the last few games of the season. Nobles also progressed, it been a season of transition which is good if the team grows and learns from it for next year. Its always disappointing when a team doesn't exceed our expectations but then again sometimes our expectations aren't realistic. Providing all return and we can get some more scorers off the bench in the 2016 we have the pieces next year to make a legitimate run at it.

Agree that EMU has the talent to get to the Big dance next year if everyone returns and the new guys contribute. But talent alone is not enough. The coaches also need to improve.

Good points. I would add:

I think we underestimated the MAC some. I think it was more competitive than I thought it would be.

Each game was losable... (if that is a word).

Seriously. We lost to the worst team in the MAC (who shot the lights out), but swept the current 2 seed. Weird year.

So two 20 win seasons back to back was a mediocre year....one of the highlights of this year has to be running CMU off the gym twice.

The only thing that matters to me is how we do in the MAC. And it will be an 8-10 year -- exactly as I predicted months ago.

A losing record in your own conference, against your equal peers is not good enough. Total apathy regarding the program is not good enough. Losing by 36 points to an average MAC competitor is not good enough. Strife in the lockerroom amongst your top players is not good enough...for people with standards. Time to reboot.

I initially was very very impressed with a true frosh being a captain on this team. It turns out that is an indictment of the utter lack of leadership on this team. That was a huge red flag as we come to see that James Thompson is a great player with serious maturity issues...and he is leading this squad!!! Would never happen on a Tom Izzo coached team. Izzo could have a freshman Wilt Chamberlain and he would put a senior role player as captain over a freshman star.

Man, it is tough to be supportive of our athletics. You have to be dedicated and more patient than Mother Theresa to be a fan of EMU basketball and football. 07-coffee3

All programs rebuild from time to time, ours more often since its built on JUCOs and transfers and not high school players, Murphy will still have another winning regular season and is still well above .500 for his coaching career here, an vast improvement over Boone and Ramsey and we've returned to be competitive in the MAC. I'll ignore one MAC conference blowout game in the name of being supportive and fair of this year's team which was competitive in a majority of the conference games.

The first one we had 8 seniors and grad student players we should have done a whole lot better with that many upperclassmen! The second one we had 5 seniors and grad student players again we should have done a whole better!07-coffee3

This people were whinning wait till lee comes then we'll be a mac contenders and what happens? Tanked only 1 or 2 good games out of him. Thompson has been very when he is able to stay in control but since he was on ESPN highlights has been little better than average.
