RE: CAAT
Back is really against the wall now. Under 4 timeout and we are down 4. Will need some Bruiser magic down the stretch to win this one.

RE: CAAT
Brutal foul call on Terrell there. Down 1 with 37 seconds left and the ball under the hoop.

57-56 final. Huge win for Drexel. Blew a 17 point lead. Fell down by 4 at the under 4 timeout. Still made the comeback. Nothing about that finish made sense from this season or the past 14 years. Onto Hofstra

Elon 74, Drexel 69.
I predicted that score also, and we were wrong.

For what it is worth, nobody was disagreeing with your gut, it just was not backed up by anything. All along it was said it was going to be a close game that could go either way. I bet at the under 4 timeout down 4 it didnt look so good for you, then everyone forgot how to score...again.

Regardless of how we go about it this season the results have ended the same. I fully expect the game to be really close and Elon will lead at the 4 min remaining mark, and will find a way to hold on.

Damn was I close or what? started 10-0 and 18-2 and a good chunk of the second half was a back and forth coin flip. Only thing was Elon did not find a way to hang on for the win after leading at the under 4 timeout.

RE: CAAT
Thanks for keeping this thread going. I just watched the highlights video, and was amazed that Drexel was able to hold Elon to just 1 point in the final 5 and half minutes to come back after blowing the lead. Drexel's had lots of early leads that they've blown this year. This is the first time I think that they blew a big lead but then managed to fight back and win.

I find it funny how dan10 and bdragon were ganging up on D4L for thinking positive. You guys are totally right that all of the paper stats and history pointed to a Elon win. But basketball isn't played on paper or in a stat book, and that's why I NEVER bet on sports.

I didn't take it as attacking/ganging up. I miss these types of conversations its nice to have people talking again even with a horrible year. My gut feeling is tomorrow will not be pretty haha.

Yeah, nothing personal, it just seemed to be destined for another close game loss with gut-wrenching scoring droughts. Go figure. Deep down, I always posted those trends hoping to jinx them. (he's throwing a no-hitter, Whitey. ... Oh, and there's the first hit of the game for the ...) Despite the stats and trends, I was rooting for the blue and gold all the way, but let's not get carried away. Enjoy it for 12 hours.

RE: CAAT
They started televising the quarterfinals of the CAA Tournament about 11 years ago, and it seemed like Drexel rarely ever got far enough to even make it to the quarterfinals. I've had an extremely busy week, but my afternoon is free tomorrow, so regardless of the outcome tomorrow, I'm just thankful that I'll be able to relax on the couch and watch the Dragons on TV one more time this year. As much as we watch Drexel games on crappy streaming video these days, it's still not as good as an actual TV broadcast.

JB, FYI the pillow fight was streamed last night too. I missed the game but was able to watch it from the archive last night.

RE: CAAT
Yeah the video was ok last night, once they got it working late in the first half. We were not ganging up at all as we said we were just laying it out objectively and let the cards fall as they may. Even late in that game I doubt there was a single Drexel fan that felt we were going to win and pull it out. They did. We are get to feel good for about 18 hours. The team played with guts and grit and were finally rewarded.

As far as Hofstra, it is a bad matchup. Although this season we have kept both games close with them. They have us outmanned everywhere on the court. Our defense will have to guard the 3 ball just like they did last night to have any chance. The roblem is Hofstra is just as happy to drive so we need to stay disciplined and not give in to the help defense which will leave open 3's. Rodney and Kaz will be crucial as they need to be physical early and often and try and get fouls on Gutsys. If Gutstys stays in the game, we are very much in trouble. Last night, on the defensive side, was the first time in a long time this season we saw the team really lock down the hatches and get after it. We will need it more than ever this afternoon. Even if we do this I am still unsure we have enough offense to make it happen. Get Gustys out and feed Rodney the ball. From there it is on Rodney to make the shots at or around the rim. We can't settle for jumpers at any point.

RE: CAAT
I was reading the Inquirer article about the game, and apparently Bruiser wasn't happy with Terrell Allen throwing up the ball at the end of the game saying "That's high school stuff. They don't do that in college". IMO, I thought it was a good play. It took the final 2 seconds off of the clock. If he doesn't throw it up in the air, there's a chance that he gets fouled and if he misses the free throws gives Elon one last shot at a game winning shot.

Thoughts?

RE: CAAT
The kid was in the dog house a mere two weeks ago. Since then has gotten through the freshman wall and been our best player (arguably). He had the audacity to take the last shot and made it. He played great defense and got the run out. He was smart enough to pull the ball out and yes it did kill the clock with the defenders closing in. Thought it was a smart move personally. Glad to see him confident at the end. From Bruiser it sounds like his stance in the past with dunking and its ridiculous.
