Crespino left because he got a terrific financial deal at Princeton, which also has a modern natatorium.
That was it, simply put.

If you can't even spell his name properly I suggest you stop feigning any knowledge of his reasons for leaving. You have no idea why he left, simply put.

Or, perhaps more accurately you know exactly why everyone is leaving this dumpster fire of a department, but your role on this message board is to be a blind apologist for all of Huge's poor decisions and poor management.

I mean, she spoke glowingly of Crispino during the Town Hall...or do you guys not remember that? This board is turning to angry rant-land.

Turning? We've been living at ground zero of angy rant land for months. Everyone has their version of events and interpretation of those events and they will make sure that you hear it.

Enjoy your stay.

I know you have a very favorable opinion of Huge, but you must be kidding. If you think leadership publicly praising a coach means anything, I don't know what to tell you.

I don't think she fired either coach. I think she made it clear to them that swimming is no priority and they realized now is a good time to accept a great deal elsewhere.

And, rants are part of messageboard fandom...maybe stop taking criticism of Huge so personally.

Similarly, there are always "no plans whatsoever to cut any sport" until the day the cuts are announced. Then, suddenly, the plan appears in its final form, as if it's spring full-grown from the head of Zeus.

But hey, nothing to see here. These aren't the droids you're looking for. Move along.

It's never really popular, but I honestly don't think cutting sports is necessarily a bad idea. I'd rather fund our biggest (Football, M/W Basketball, Baseball, Soccer) better than fund 19 sports

Im more in the neutral camp, but hopeful that some of these changes pan out. I do agree with a big shake-up though. I believe Tribe Athletics overall was largely wallowing in mediocrity the last decade (aside from Swimming ironically), due to maintaining the status quo during a time that the overall university seemed to be otherwise having an upward trajectory.

Im certainly not taking the criticism personally...just dont understand the point of rehashing the same arguments over and over during the summer. Press release of Crispino leaving was almost 2 full months ago.

Not rehasing an old argument. Another experienced swim coach just left. Seems like nearly every coach, staff, trainer, etc that was here prior to Huge is gone.

Rehashing because:
1) Correct, press release was 2 months ago and there has been no new HC announcement, resulting in

2) The talented interim HC also leaving, completely disrupting one of our most successful programs less than 2 months from students reporting back to campus.

3) This admin is sending a message loud and clear to tremendously dedicated, non-scholarship student-athletes, in an extremely demanding sport, that they do not matter.

All they are expected to do is win, maintain some of the highest GPAs in the athletic department, garner all kinds of academic awards from the CAA on a regular basis, all on one of the smallest budgets in the athletic department. The treatment of W&M swimming, given what they've delivered to the University in athletic and academic prestige, and relative to their better funded and poorly performing peers in the athletic department, is shameful. This certainly pre-dates Huge's tenure, but under her leadership, or lack thereof, the situation has gone downhill quickly and dramatically.
