All CAA Team 2015-2016
A bit of a weird question, but can NU have two players on the All-CAA 1st team this season? Even as a 6th/7th place finish?
Let's look at the stats (supported from basic stats at CAASports.com):
David Walker (pts/reb/ast/stea/blk)
18.2/3.9/4.1/1.5/0.4
1st PPG
8th FG%
5th APG
1st FT%
7th SPG
1st 3PT%
6th Ast/TO ratio
So he's the best shooter in the conference, leads the lead in points, top 5 in assists, good ast/to ratio and steals numbers too.
Quincy Ford
16.8/7.1/2.7/1.6/0.9
6th PPG
5th RPG
12th APG
5th SPG
9th BPG
He's among the best in all categories, and has been named player of the week 4 times.
Who are the other All-CAA contenders?
(Rank in PTS/REB/AST/STL/BLK per game, 1st 3 seem to hold most attention from critics):
Omar Prewitt - 2/16/13/NA/13
Terry Tarpey - 26/4/NA/1/2
Juan'ya Green - 3/NA/1/2/NA
Rokas Gustys - 11/1/NA/NA/4
Ron Curry - 5/NA/7/NA/NA
Chris Flemmings - 7/11/NA/8/13
William Adala Moto - 10/3/NA/NA/NA
Marvin King Davis - 9/2/NA/NA/13
So are those the top 10 most likely to be named to CAA 1st team this season? UNCW and Towson have a lot of depth and balance, so it hinders some of their best players' stats. Is that fair?
Of those 10, who gets named to the team?
I think Green and Tarpey are locks. After that it gets dicey. I think Walker will make it. But Ford might be the most balanced player in the league. I think most NU fans believe he is the most talented player on our team, just doesn't always show it.
My guess is Green, Tarpey, Walker, pick 2 of the remaining 7 out of a hat, but leaning towards Prewitt and one of the big guys.
I think the last two games will mean a lot for those last few spots.

Welcome Husky67! And I was thinking about this last night and completely agree with you.
Green, Tarpey, Gustys, Walker, and then a toss up for the last spot between everyone else. But I think those are my top 4, with Green and Tarpey being the only 2 locks.

Interesting to have Moto on the team. I wasn't able to watch a whole lot of our games vs. Towson this season, but he seems to have pretty good stats. How good is his defense? If there was a reason to leave Gustys off the team it would be his defense, but I kinda felt the same way about Eatherton the last couple years and he was a shoe in. (And even won DPOY one year! LOL)

I was thinking about this too, and there are probably 6 or 7 players who would all be solid first-team picks. Both Walker and Ford deserve it, but only 1 of them may get it simply because NU is 6th and not a higher seed. Gustys may not get it just because he's a sophomore, coaches may vote for upperclassmen. Who knows what'll happen, voting could be just as crazy as the conference season proved to be. But I think it can basically be any combination of most of the names mentioned here. And a lot of the 2nd team will give the 1st team a run for their money.
