Did it? If it did no one told me about it. Last I checked Gold was one of our colors and we have had only one Gold Rush this year. This will be number two. Are you going to be there or complaining from afar?

Bazertalkers have spent plenty of time complaining about people not wearing green, no need to single out MB.

I thought it was appropriate.

Of course you did.

The question wasn't whether or not 50% of the goldrusehes were well publicized, but why has there been more of an effort to push gold than green?

Maybe pushing gold more than green is okay, but a ton of us have argued that people should wear green to games, but when MB restates it, criticism is drawn

I think the bigger issue is...why are we doing a Gold Rush when our opponents are the "Golden Panthers"?

The Gold Rush we did against UTEP made somewhat thematic sense because we were playing against "miners" and one of our colors was gold.

I don't think it works when you make every other home game one these clever color specific events. It's supposed to be done rarely and for more important games.

I agree, but you do have to do it often enough that people own the colors that we're trying to get them to wear. I broke down yesterday and bought one of those gold "Blaze On" shirts. My UAB wardrobe to this point has been almost entirely green. If we consistently marketed it as Thursdays being gold and Saturdays being green, it might start to catch on.

You get to sell double the shirts.

Also, all the free student shirts I own are green. If this becomes a thing I need to buy a gold shirt or two.

How about showing up and showing our regardless if its a color rush or not. As hard as I have been on them at least they tried something which is better than nothing I suppose.

Oh and I don't feel sorry for him one iota.

Yep. People constantly complain about marketing, and then when we try something people complain about that. We have a website and we have an email distribution. If you aren't on either of those regularly, maybe you should look into that. It's not like this was some hidden message

Except he's right.

I have next to no gold UAB gear, because I listened to Carol Z. say "be seen in green" for a long time.

Hell, I think I burned the gold rush shirt I got for the Memphis game. Black juju.

Same here, except the crappily-made "tan rush" shirt from that memphis game disintegrated the first time through the wash.

Now, if I could get a gold shirt with a green "#FREEUAB/FIRE RAY WATTS" I would be happy.

It seems to me that you like to argue and be negative about everything he says.
I guess it's all about perspective.
try reading the board without looking at who posted, and it may change your perspective (just a suggestion--feel free to ignore it)

When it comes to color of garb for games, it really makes no difference if it is "black out","gold rush", "white out" or "be seen in green" as long as the unified expression of team support is accomplished. That is the intended goal of all such promotions.

We are enjoying what is a banner year for UAB basketball in the making so let's not quibble over a dominant color of a fan's shirt.
