Dont agree on the ring. Still say fire Miles. But...two pages on THIS?

11 points is a blowout. Nice math skills junior.

Maybe it's just me, but... going to the first bowl game in your school's history seems ring-worthy enough.

There is THAT. Might not have done it myself but I get it.

I don't see it as a participation trophy. How I see it is a nice gesture by GSU to give something to a group of guys that stuck with their U and their team through all the tough times they experienced trying to build a program and garner support and getting the Panthers to their first ever Bowl game. That's something no one else will ever be able to claim. Let's face it, the SBC fan base on here is just a small example of what these players put up with for their entire college careers. They didn't work any less hard or put out any less effort than the next team but they had a long row to hoe and stuck it out.
I think they earned something and don't take issue. Some may not like it, understand it or appreciate it but I can see why they did it.

Bingo

That thing is OOGLY.

And it's to commemorate a HUGE milestone in their athletics history. I don't see a problem with it (aside from the design and aforementioned zuul).

Pantherhead is not zuul. You are so 2010.

Georgia Southern Fan #1 - I can't believe they'd made a bumper sticker about beating us. Haha. We are their Super Bowl.
Georgia Southern Fan #2 - Can you believe the players got rings for their first bowl game?
Georgia Southern Fan #1 - Yeah. So stupid to commemorate a loss. Nice shirt man.
Georgia Southern Fan #2 - Thanks man. Your's too.

As they both wear 2 different Saban shirts commemorating Southern's loss to Alabama.

Georgia Southern selling tin horn shirts

T-shirts are fine to commemorate all sorts of things. Rings are for championships.

If those kids want to celebrate their first bowl with flashy rings then let them. It doesn't harm anybody and those kids get some cool looking bling to show off to their friends and family.

I say we ban anyone who uses the term "moral victory".

Beating a horrible Florida team is arguably more of a "moral victory" than losing at the last minute to the Orange Bowl Champions or losing in OT to an SEC east team that made a bowl game. The 1999 Oregon State loss and 2011 Alabama loss are arguably more impressive, too.

BTW, I don't really care that State's senior class that won 2 games from 2012-2014 is getting rings. Either they've done something that few senior classes at State will do or they've taken the program out of the abyss. Either way, it's something to commemorate.

to me I don't really care, but I do think it is funny that the first ones to point out our "moral victories" as being irrelevant (which I agree there are no moral victories) are the same ones now defending their "moral victory" rings. Hipocrisy?

Perennially at the bottom of the conference? In what sport? In 2015, we were 4th in Football. In basketball we've been first or second each year(probably not this year). We're 1-1 all time against you guys.

Don't forget we beat them in the SunBelt tourney in baseball too. And 2nd in soccer, but other than baseball, basketball, football, soccer those sports... last. Well not last either. In our worst sports last year we finished 3rd from the bottom in volleyball and women's basketball. But other than that. Totally bottom feeder.

CTM did also say last night that, in the future, rings are for conference championships only, but that he wanted to commemorate our first ever bowl game somehow and the guys voted on rings. You guys see it as participation, but our guys worked hard to turn around a season and end up pulling off a massive upset in Statesboro to send us to a bowl game. The rings are fine.
