When Withers left (it's not like we traded him), we had no coach. With Houston, we have a coach. Upgrade.

The QB isn't everything. In every loss but Maryland in 2014, we scored enough to win. The defense failed to pull its weight in our losses, and often in many of our wins.

We have to agree that Hyper ' s head explosion would not be an upgrade to 9 win seasons under Withers.
Seriously though, I want to love Houston as a coach like some on here already do. However, he has produced zero wins at JMU. He needs to earn the love and show he can at least match Withers' production.
I need my head. We can't lose to spatters.

RE: Smooth Transition
For me, it's not just about the wins and losses. I can conceive scenarios where we finish say, 7-4, and don't make the playoffs, but still think we're better positioned for the future with Houston rather than Withers. If consistently smart on-field decision are being made, guys are improving thanks to technique and coaching, and we react better to whatever opponents are doing, I think he'll be an upgrade.

RE: Smooth Transition
Defense will be a lot better this year. That will be the biggest difference. 9-2 will happen then a playoff win.
