You know, it's funny reading these game threads after wins. The knee jerk reactions look pretty dumb afterwards. "The dumbest team in the world" is now 6-2 atop the CAA.

I watched the final 7 minutes or so in the middle of Manhattan. That was pretty cool.

RE: Drexel game
If our bigs start playing better and we keep REALLY attacking on both ends, this is what could happen.

RE: Drexel game
Wasn't able to see the game. From the box score I noticed we did really well on the boards, especially offensive boards which created a huge advantage on 2nd. chance points. Keatts mentioned on the radio that Chuck did a great job boxing out, allowing others to get rebounds, even though he didn't have a lot on his own. Also noticed Chuck played 20 minutes to Getty's 10 minutes. Did we rebound better with Getty's on the bench?

Looks like we found a way to get to the basket on offense, but appears the press was not effective. Were we trapping and really trying to press, or just giving a token press again?

RE: Drexel game
The press wasn't working in the first 16 minutes of the game. Coach apparently got mad and told them to play some freaking ball. He put Hickson in there and he was hustling. It seemed to inspire the other players. Ogbodo got in there too and was hustling. We began to trap harder with Bryce, Flemmings and Talley and started getting deflections. It was like our whole attitude changed. And we actually got down during that time but they were making crazy shots.

Hawks started attacking via the drive better in the 2nd half and we hit some J's too. It was a good mix. The defense looked better today overall. The guards were more physical out there and I did like the way Chuck was moving out there. This team can be pretty good. The Drexel guys on Dragon Speak were dissing UNCW before the game (for some reason, what 14-6 isn't okay?), but they can't now. Drexel played very well, but still lost. Hawks played defense IMHO today regardless on shooting percentages.

JMU is going to be tough, but this team can beat any CAA team if they play well.

Knee jerk reactions? When you listen/watch the entire game the discussion is about what's happening at that time. there were times today where we looked lost. They fought through it and got a nice W. But at the time, we did't know what the outcome would be, see how that works?

Yes, I would say calling a team the "dumbest in the world" based on a few minutes of game action is a kneejerk reaction, and a terrible one. I get that people get frustrated when we're playing badly against a poor team, but I will criticize that type of comment every time nonetheless.

I'll give one of the finest posters on the board a pass on that one. We do get frustrated at times, I started to post at halftime and needless to say I'm glad I did not, most on here are passionate fans and at times that actuaiiy gets in the way.

I'll just say this. I've seen a lot of really smart people make dumb decisions at times. That's part of being human. I'm 110% positive that wasn't an overall indictment of what Bill, or any of the rest of us think about ANY of our Seahawk teams or players this year or in years past.

Hoops and Herd are spot on. There's a difference between in-game commentary and reactions and post-game. We all bleed teal. I don't see any reason to pick apart Bill of all people for one piece of in-game frustration. We've all been there and 99.9% of the time Bill has been there to keep us even keel.

The tough part of the schedule is coming up folks. It's important that we don't nip and bite at each other over silly stuff now. Our mettle is about to be tested. We're family here. We've been through much tougher times than this. Let's remember who we are and proceed!

Yes, part of the frustration of the moment but nobody should take that too seriously. I love all of those guys and I'm glad that Chuck had the confidence to use his left hand like that. In fact, I've been wanting Big Chuck out there more. He looked good and I've always been the biggest Ponder fan. If they read these boards, they already know that I've got their backs.

RE: Drexel game
Fair enough guys. I guess I just compare what Keatts is doing to what we were doing the 6 years prior to his arrival and feel good about it even when we're playing badly for certain stretches. Admittedly, I was royally pissed myself during the ECU game, though I took my anger out on ECU grads in that instance, lol.

With Thursday marking the midpoint of the CAA schedule and a lot of big games ahead, I think we'll rise to the occasion rather than playing down a bit to teams like Delaware and Drexel. And in any instance I'll take wins any way we can get them. This league is tough and we shouldn't take any W for granted, especially on the road. Big week ahead, time for us to shine!

Yep Nation, we messed up that ECU game and also the Radford game. These away games early, with this team, were just tough enough to lose if we weren't playing decent. And, it has taken time. I've got to give our team credit, they really have gotten better. I coach ball and that's all you want as a coach....does your team get better over the year or not? If that answer is yes, you can live with yourself. I take hoops too seriously some times though because I'm extremely passionate about it. 01-lauramac2

How many times have I reminded you it's not okay to duct tape them and put them in your trunk?

I coached my oldest son's team (15 year old) in North Raleigh and I'm currently coaching my youngest son's team (9 year old). The older one isn't going to play this year and just focus on school. He's doing VERY well in school and is taking on that challenge. I may or may not continue coaching that team.

Nice. I'm still doing the 11-12 year old thing in Cary. It's a lot of fun. I took last year off and really missed it.
