RE: Elon Game
It is no accident that the increase in productivity for Sheldon and Whitman comes with the rise of Cone
to a high level at point guard that we haven't seen at W&M. Cohn's pressure on opposing defenses,
especially his speed in getting the ball down court that makes it difficult for opponents to really set up,
allowing setup passes to our centers.

Shaver has recently said that Cohn is the fastest player he's ever coached. And Tony has coached a long, long time.

RE: Elon Game
It was great to have the students back.

Did anybody else think that the Jill Ellis big head looked a lot like Chris Matthews?

I thought that it was Bruce Bochy.

I do not think we have had a "true" point guard since the D'Antonio kid was enticed by Tony to rejoin the team during Tony's first year at W&M. We have had some very good guards but not true point guards.

I thought McCurdy did a good job of running the point. His problem was he was no threat to score and teams didn't fear him shooting against them

The first year McCurdy played for W&M, he and David Schneider were both Juniors. The team had a 10 -20 record that year [tied for tenth place in the CAA] I think it was Tony's plan that McCurdy would handle the point and David would shift to be the shooting guard. But I had the sense there was conflict between the two because David had been running the point his first two years and did not want to relinquish that role.

The following year, of course was an outstanding year for the Tribe.
