Bryan Harsin -- Not World's Greatest Boss
http://www.idahostatesman.com/sports/col...31795.html

This isn't precisely a Sun Belt topic but I post it to show StAte fans they dodged a bullet and out of enjoyment when BSU hits the rocks.

BSU OC & DC both leave in the same week. Both went to arguably better jobs but the DC is a BSU alum who was already Co-DC at TX A&M 2 years ago. He took a paycut to come to Boise and now he's leaving after 2 seasons. Couple all that with the fact that Harsin left most of his StAte coaching staff behind when he took the BSU job and you get a picture of a coach who's not engendering a lot of loyalty.

Plus, the guy he just hired to coach DBs had the same job at Idaho in 2014 and Texas St. in 2015. Not exactly resume high points since Idaho's DBs got better after he left and Tx. St.'s got worse when he arrived. You get the sense that Harsin isn't recruiting his coaches from a very deep pool.

Coaching turmoil plus another down year means panic among some of the more excitable members of Bronco Country right now. Good times.

He didn't leave all the stAte staff behind. He took the best one with him, and that guy just left for a better job.

Their OC Drinkwitz isn't a Boise alum, he's went to a D2 in Arkansas. Harsin was my least favorite of our last 4 coaches. Interestingly, I asked a player who played under five different head coaches at stAte, and he said Harsin was his favorite. That's just one guy though.

You're right about the OC. Fixed the original post.

Harsin definitely was kind of a lackluster that caught outside breaks that season

We didn't know if it was just a mismatch of styles or what. Time will tell

His scheme was not going to work at stAte. We are much better off and we got $1.75 million out of Boise for our trouble. Anderson is a better fit and looks to be a better recruiter.

It would have with some turnover, but waiting for the turnover wouldn't have been pleasant.

The Memphis game...and when he surrendered versus the Cajuns. I don't like surrendering.

Yeah he is horrible. Made the access bowl and has brought the best recruits bsu has ever had. Part of being successful is having coaches move on to bigger and better things. I wasn't really that impressed with drink but was hoping Yates would stay longer.

Actually 2013 was you're highest rated recruiting class. Petersen's worst season was his last (8-4.) Other than that year, both of Harsin's seasons have been worse than all of Petersen's other seasons. Houston Nutt did great his first two years at Ole Miss playing with someone else's players, but fell flat on his face after that. Not saying Harsin isn't a good coach, but he will need to keep things going.

He brought in Brett Rypien and Yates brought in some 4* guys. This years class should be pretty good

He may turn out fine for Boise, and he might have turned out fine for us in time. But not with our scheme and not with our players. Probably worked out for the best for everyone.

For sure. I think he was not the best fit with the talent you guys had and his coaching philosophy. And 2015 was slightly better than 2013 for bsu recruiting so I think he is on the right track. Starting a true freshman most of this year I think he did pretty well. I would love to get the game with Idaho going again I hope that happens sooner than later.

Agreed. Just ridiculous that Idaho & BSU don't play each other anymore. Go have a heart-to-heart with your president down there.

He has been good in a lot of areas but awful in many. I lived through the streak so playing Idaho seems important to me. I don't think all the games should be in Boise either. I do think the game would be better served being played at Martin so more folks from both sides could go. I'm rooting for Idaho to be successful

He's made this rivalry about so many things besides sports. It doesn't have to be this nasty. Martin would be just fine with me -- we'd fill it up for that game. It's good for the whole state for the rivalry game to start up again ASAP and make it home-and-home. I have a feeling that when Kustra is finally gone we'll get our wish.

I like to drink and if he ever took a stroll around the stadium on game day he would see drunk and inebriated in spades. The whole competitive thing is bs as the Broncos play other teams from the sun belt and Mac anyways. Playing y'all would guarantee a sellout with premium prices for tickets.
