It wouldn't do much for the footprints of the conference, but it'd put an end to the markets vs on field arguments. Also, NMSU and UTEP could be real travel partners for the out-liars. Idaho would be Indy or FCS in this scenario.

Coastal get dropped to DIII?

Forgot about y'all, but you screw up the even numbers, so you have to fight it out with somebody for their spot.

That's putting it mildly they are in full meltdown mode over on the CUSA board.

Once we split into divisions I think the Sun Belt will be set so long as we can get about the same $$$ as CUSA in our next contract I can see us possibly taking a couple of their teams when Idaho and NMSU exit the league.

Why would they agree to that when even with the decrease in their deal they still make much more money? Doesn't really make much sense.

for now I agree, for the next couple of years, most of the USA schools will act like nothing is wrong, and will not listen to reason. But, time is on the side of those who want a regional approach. Expenses will keep rising, revenue streams will dry up, fans will care less about conference opponents a thousand miles away, and eventually they will have to come to the table and take a realistic view of what constitutes a strong mid major conference going forward.

The newbies are putting Loser Tech in with ULM. 03-lmfao They have no idea.
Loser Tech would drop athletics before aligning with ULM. Recently, they sat home to avoid playing them in a bowl.

None of this is really going to happen, I was just going with a theme and, though I've never been, I don't think Ruston qualifies as a metropolitan area. But if you insist, we can swap Tejas St with La Tech.

I hate being in a conference now seen as equal to sun belt, overflowing with schools that are afterthoughts of a larger state school's university system.

Sorry, but c'mon. We got invited after schools that didn't even have fbs programs yet, because of markets. How did that work out for our tv deal?

RE: Time for a G5 shuffle?
Yes, we need to go regional. The loss of TV revenue for everyone makes these strung out conferences obsolete. One easy way to make up for the lost revenue is cutting travel AND having teams that can actually bring visiting fans. This would help build rivalries again that mean a little more, and make for a better experience.

Whether this is an east/west divide or a break away like the MWC is yet to be determined. I could see a group of schools holding up the reshuffle and that leading to another group to form a new conference.

Yep.

Its not going to happen in the next 18 months. But there are meetings coming to an airport near you in the next 4 to 6 years,

Some of those names sound familiar.
