Death Penalty for Old Miss? 'Bama lose scholarships?
Could Ole Miss get the Death Penalty?
Cecil Hurt @CeciIHurt · 5h5 hours ago
My sources are confirming that the NCAA did visit the Alabama campus yesterday, but aren't expected to release any details for some time.
I have also confirmed that the NCAA has lumped the Tunsil investigation into the investigation they are already conducting.
Meanwhile in Tus

Penalties for Alabama will likely be several scholarships. No games vacated. Ole Miss however likely to get NCAA death penalty.
Source within #Alabama program confirms Bo Davis allegations discovered by NCAA during Ole Miss investigation.

Ole Miss is nowhere near "death penalty" sanctions. The guys mom got $350 to keep her power on. Payola is a old as the hills. It's not the academic fraud of U.N.C., or the call girl service at Louisville.
I think they will get a reduction in scholarships and probably a 1 year bowl ban.
As for Bama we'll have to wait and see. It could be very bad, or relatively typical. We'll see.

I have a hard time taking anybody seriously who uses the phrase "likely to get death penalty."

It will never be used again, ever!
And any violations made now that might not be violations next year will likely be downplayed, ignored, or extremely mild in treatment.

Do you know how many instructors were involved in the Carolina "scandal"?
ONE militant professor, who happened to be the dean of the department who was too lazy to teach his classes and too cheap tho hire a GA to stand in for him in the classroom and to grade the required term papers, which is a job he left to his secretary (that's the academic fraud). He was collecting bonus money for operating his department below budget, was indicted by the State of North Carolina for taking money on false pretense, and a deal was made to have his charges dropped by all of those that were out to "get" the University if he talked to the Wainstein Committee. Which he did but the committee obtained no "proof" from the interviews.
Compare your problems to somebody else.

Exactly
We all know the NCAA will essentially do nothing. But, when it does come down on somebody it will be justly called unfair.
The problem is ultimately the NCAA whenever a discussion like this comes up.

The regular board is already wet over this. The inevitable "who will get punished for this" posts from the usual suspects are already circulating.

Death penalty could still be used in most egregious cases (think: Penn State didn't even get it), however, with TV money so involved now, a death penalty to one school harms not just that school (and players who had nothing to do with the cause of the penalty) but whole conferences.

The main thing here is that Slive put the quietus on this kind of stuff by essentially saying that any conference school that reported another had better have it right. Nobody challenged that. Sankey is going to have to do the same and put teeth in it.
That said nobody can stop "STUPID". If a player waves a wad of money in front of a cell phone camera the school ought to revoke scholarships on the spot. If a student athlete makes a tweet, or accusations against the school the school needs to pursue action immediately. 15 seconds of fame in front of the homies can do damage to an institution for half a decade and these ignorant punks need to learn that the hard way.
If a man can't discipline himself he is useless not only to himself but all others.

I don't think you will ever see it again.
Besides, the death penalty for a major program, even smaller majors like Ole Miss, has a long lasting impact on conferences and other programs.
The death penalty for a single member in any P5 conference today would spell doom for that conference.
The NCAA won't do that.
