Wow...

Houston could be a real contender. In the "Way too early top 25" in Si.com (I think it's SI) they have the cougars beginning the year at #15. It's not such a far cry to think that they couldn't climb 11 spots over 14 weeks.

Does anyone think that the playoff committee would actually consider them? I think if they were to go undefeated next year, that they would deserve a spot unless there was 4 other undefeateds in front of them. But we know how the P5's look after themselves. They do have a difficult schedule next year with Oklahoma and Louisville. Oh, Texas St too.

Well, IMHO, if they begin the year at #15, then the voters are taking them seriously. This isn't a "we will throw the G5 a bone" ranking. If UH goes undefeated, I think they will have little choice but to consider them.

Houston plays Oklahoma and Louisville next season, and they'd be a 20 point dog to Oklahoma on a neutral field right now. Then they'd have to beat two more great teams in the playoff. Their odds of winning are somewhere between 0 and Powerball.

If Houston wins out, they should be in the coversation. Winning against Oklahoma and Louisville is another matter entirely though.

They just won a New Years Six bowl against FSU pretty handily, and Oklahoma just got beaten thoroughly by Clemson. I couldn't see the spread being any more than 6 in a Houston-Oklahoma game.

I would put a fairly substantial wager on Michigan.

Houston needs both Oklahoma and Louisville to have Top 25 years and needs to beat them and then needs a couple of AAC teams to have Top. 25 years as well.

The spread is actually Oklahoma -5.5 though if Idaho played them, it would be Oklahoma -60.
