Ours did the same thing with the 401k. WTF? Especially since everyone knows there will be layoffs this year! At the end of the day Companies don't value long term employees like they used to. Instead of seeing competency and experience they see a big salary on a spread sheet. That's why Comalnies resist offering family leave time

If you're producing value for your company, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Learn how your organization generates a profit and figure out how you fit into that business model. If you can't do that, you're destined for a pink slip.

Learn about the external factors that impact the business model. Which way are things trending? Are there emerging opportunities in adjacent markets (either new customers or new products) that your company should be looking at?

my company isn't that smart. We sell hours and they keep wondering why we have a revenue shortfall. They don't like it when I point out that they don't have the headcount to make their plan.

The best company I worked for I was in a pilot program. It was almost a complete 360 approach. We were encouraged to call/email the VP of our division with anything we thought was of value. He personally responded and put people together to solve the problem or implement the plan. Or he'd bring two sides together and we'd talk out which was the best approach. It was awesome. We nearly tripled revenue. Any guesses what they did to that division?

If it was my company, the different business unit execs would go behind the scenes and try to get that division moved or absorbed into their unit instead of focusing on growing their own.
