There was no commentary like today and definitely an attempt to keep coverage politically neutral. Today, there is no such thing in many places. You cannot tell the difference between "news" and "commentary". Especially in the MSM, there is a lot of commentary and bias on so-called news stories.

Here's an example: if there is a gov't shutdown, let's blame the GOP. It doesn't matter if the Dem led Senate will not negotiate or that the President vetoes appropriations. Global warming is a certainty in the media, even though the data behind it is suspect and theory is constantly changing.

I personally do not trust any of them. I will listen to all of them and maybe check out other sources to see if there is another aspect not being covered.

Regardless, we are a divided country and when it comes to news, people like it presented with their own personal skews now.

Well, I can tell the difference. And MSM isn't the only cable network to try and pass off opinion as reporting. Fox is the gold standard when it comes to fake news. But then, that's why Fox network was created. To provide a Republican perspective on the news.

By the way, I found this interesting. How the Oregon seige would've been covered by US media had it happened overseas.

It's incredible to me that you posted the above. Criticize Fox and then site Slate. Why don't you just post that the only media that is accurate are the ones that agree with you. You'd be wrong but at least you'd be honest. And arrogant.

I do give Fox some credit, they at least bring in people on both sides that actually try to defend their side of the issue.

both of ya actually get it......except you still each hold on to the blanky

it's okay....we will all suffer the consequences moving forward...hopefully, my exit strategy works 14 yrs from now....

Oh, please.

I grew up, every night, watching Huntley-Brinkely, Cronkase, Rather bias, Jennings, BrOkaw, Wallace, Connie Chung 03-lmfao , and how many others? ALL left leaning, if not falling over. And that was all the news anyone would get for the most part.

The media is more "balanced" now than any other time in my life or yours, as with all things that have multiple sources vs. 1. Is it always pretty? Well, no, of course not. But it's far better than the indoctrination/propaganda crap we used to get.

My guess is you just don't like other views getting out there, sorry that disappoints you!

The media is much more partisan than before. A Cronkite wouldn't try to defend Democrats. CNN is the only one that isn't highly partisan, but they are unabashedly liberal.
