Latins do the same thing. They have their own movies, awards, clubs and whatnot.

Maybe Disney will remake "Song of the South" starring Jim Carrey as Uncle Remus. Then those under 60 yr old will finally get a chance to see a film adaptation of Joel Chandler Harris' classic story of Br'er Rabbit and the tar baby.

Which is stupid.

I used to belong to a Chicano club in Thailand but no one was excluded from joining.

Hollywood, like any corporation, will put out what sells. If diversity sells, we'll see more of it, if not, probably not.

Some black americans went crazy over the casting of Ridey Scott's Exodus. I did not understand the butt hurt because ancient
Egyptians / Jews were not Black. Just because Egypt is in Africa does not mean the movie should have actors that trace roots to W. Africa.

However, if you're making a movie about an historical event it would look foolish to place Blacks or even Hispanics in the movie in roles that you know would never happen. For instance, you should NEVER see Black Nazis or Hispanic Nazis. Just a small example.

Spain was aligned with the nazis. Franscico Franco was a fascist dictator.

Yes, and…?

We (US) were aligned with China (among others) that doesn't make us Chinese or Communists.

As per acting in films & movies, I'm of the opinion that the actors that fit the director's vision make it into the films & movies.
