Any clue?
When the new football operations building have groundbreaking? The sign is already fading on the fence. No update I have heard lately. It's 2016...

RE: Any clue?
They have not selected a design team. I anticipate it to be done within the next two weeks.

The next step will be a budget and a schedule. Then after that we will know when the drawings will be complete. When the project will start. When will it be complete. You can have a ground breaking and not start work for years so to speak. Groundbreakings mean nothing and are a dog an pony show.

I'm sure they will have one for a media show but my questions are listed above.

I still remember the ground breaking on the dome stadium.

I don't think coach Clark will allow that. I heard you can bring your own though.

I expect a groundbreaking in mid to late spring. I'd guess construction will begin sometime between April and August, depending on how fast the process goes.

All those steps could mean not getting any new building until sometime in the next decade. Can UAB afford to take such time when we are raising money from people who want to see something important built more quickly? It seems, to me anyways, that we are looking to originally build the world's first Football Operations Building, something no one has ever done before.

A hip flask or half pint is pretty easy to bring in with you. I imagine they'll be selling Pepsi.

All those steps are required before anything is built anywhere. The number "steps" are too numerous to mention. I just don't have two days to jot them down.

RE: Any clue?
They can't break ground before the board approves the project, which hasn't happened yet. They can combine/accelerate it, but usually construction projects go before the board for 2 or 3 stages before ground is broken (have to approve the project conceptually--might have already happened, then approve a contractor, approve contracts, etc)

I tried telling everyone a couple months ago to be patient. It will take some time. That said it will happen and it will happen in Clark's time frame he wants.

I am OK with "patience" meaning 2016 to 2017 to begin to build. My concern is with "patience" that means 2021 to 2024. I am not sure even FBHC Clark is willing to wait for that to happen.

It is not going to take ten years to design and build the thing. Good grief, we're talking about something the size of a walmart and a football stadium, for which dozens of ready-made designs are ready to go with numerous architecture firms. it won't take a decade to plan and build anything.
