RE: Women's Basketball Thread
The #2 seeded Dragons will battle the #10 Towson Tigers around 5:00 tonight. The Dragons destroyed Towson last Wednesday at the SECU on Senior Day. Yesterday, Towson knocked off a W&M team that gave Drexel problems last Sunday.
Historically, Denise Dillon's teams have performed very well in the CAA Tournament, rarely every being upset by a lower seed. Last year was an unfortunate exception when the #2 seeded Dragons hobbled into the horse barn and got upset by #7 Delaware, who had played the day before.
Drexel is healthy this year and has been playing well at the end of the season. They need a big win tonight against Towson and hopefully advance to the semi-finals against Hofstra or Northeastern.

4th quarter and JMU is tied with CofC at 39. Cof C got off to a fast start in the first quarter before it disappeared by halftime.

JMU gets a steal, hits a 3 and takes their first lead in the last minute since the first minute of the game. Looks like it is over and JMU will escape

With no surprise CofC choked at the end and JMU wins by 3.

RE: Women's Basketball Thread
I just logged back into my computer...am I reading that right....Northeastern 42, Hofstra 18 at halftime????? JMU was able to pull off a big comeback against COC today, but is 24 points at halftime too much to overcome.....
Drexel struggled with Towson today in the 1st half, but still managed to show that they were the better team and pull away from them in the 2nd half.

RE: Women's Basketball Thread
The last game of the night in the CAA Tournament was a total shocker as #6 Northeastern destroyed #3 Hofstra. The final was 65-54 but it wasn't that close. Hofstra seems to be Drexel's closest foe in that 2nd tier of teams below JMU. So for the 2nd day in a row, Drexel catches a break as their lower seeded team pulls the upset to face Drexel....
So the semi finals are set:
#1 JMU vs. #5 Delaware at 1:30
#2 Drexel vs. #6 Northeastern at 4:00
Should be a fun day of hoops at the old horse barn tomorrow afternoon.

NU is definitely a better matchup than HU, but we did split with NU and both games we close. It wont be an easy game. NU is also on a roll winning 9 of their last 11 with their only 2 losses being to JMU and Hofstra

RE: Women's Basketball Thread
They struggled today defensively in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, but they finally turned the defense on Northeastern in the 4th quarter to pull away from a 40-40 tie to pull away for the win.
The Dragons have been working to this point after they were cheated out of a chance to beat JMU a few weeks ago at the DAC.
So the stage is set for the two best teams in the CAA to face off in the championship. Drexel vs. JMU tomorrow at 4:00.

We will need to play at our highest to win this one, but I can be done. Defense needs to really lock down tomorrow or else it could be a long day. History says this game will go down to the wire

RE: Women's Basketball Thread
If anyone in the CAA can win vs JMU it is Drexel. The last game was close! JMU didn't have a good game vs COC and had their revenge game vs Delaware yesterday. Hopefully today will be a great game!

RE: Women's Basketball Thread
I loved watching Jess Pellechio's postgame interview yesterday. She didn't seem happy about the yesterday's win. I looked at her and I saw fire in her eyes, basically saying with a mean, determined face..., "We Want JMU". Hopefully, the entire team goes into today's game with that kind of fire, focus, and determination. The Dragons did not play a full 40 minutes in either of their previous two games. They played well in certain parts of the game when they needed to in order to pull away. Today, they will have to play lock-down defense for 40 minutes, and hit most of their open 3 point shots that are given to them. JMU will not be cocky today....they know Drexel is a tough game for them. It should be fun...GO DRAGONS!!!

RE: Women's Basketball Thread
Drexel is 0-9 from the field and down 9-0 at the first timeout. Can't win if you can't make shots. They've had a lot of open looks.

RE: Women's Basketball Thread
Can't believe I'm saying this but I'm glad they're only down 9 after the 1st quarter. Drexel's defense has been great thus far, but they can't hit shots. Hopefully they can settle down and play their game and work their way back.

Dragons were trying to hang around but those 2 3 pointers by JMU in the final minute of the half were killer.

Nobody can buy a shot. That's the flaw of this offense....they've gotta make shots.

46 points will never get it done. Held them to 60 which is not bad at all. Best team won today. They earned the right to dance. Hopefully we can go on a good WNIT run again

RE: Women's Basketball Thread
Was only able to catch bits and pieces, but it looked like a tough game. JMU is obviously the best team in conference, and their opening game against CofC was the worst thing that could have happened because it got them refocused.
Here's to another long WNIT run!
