Every journalist in America has been secretly attending seminary, and now understands Christianity better than most Christians do. This is the only conclusion I can draw after months of theology lectures from reporters whose most recent encounter with religious terminology was Hozier’s “Take Me to Church.”

To those of us for whom church isn’t a metaphor for sex, it’s been a frustrating few months. First, the chattering class endlessly assured Christian bakers, restaurant-owners, photographers, and florists that Jesus would be totally down with making same-sex nuptials fabulous (and presumably, with paying the $135,000 fine for those who felt differently).

Shock: Christian College Upholds Christianity
When Wheaton political science professor Larycia Hawkins was suspended after wearing a hijab during Advent, writers at outlets like The Huffington Post thought this headline was too good to resist: “A Christian College Placed a Professor on Leave for Wearing A Hijab.”

The administration felt Hawkins failed this test by equating the God of Christianity with the god of Islam.

Except, they didn’t. Wheaton has made it clear that it has no policy regarding Islamic religious garb, or as Hawkins calls it, “embodied solidarity” with Muslims. Instead, the administration suspended Hawkins for her bizarre explanation of the stunt:

“I stand in human solidarity with my Muslim neighbor because we are formed of the same primordial clay, descendants of the same cradle of humankind—a cave in Sterkfontein, South Africa that I had the privilege to descend into to plumb the depths of our common humanity in 2014. I stand in religious solidarity with Muslims because they, like me, a Christian, are people of the book. And as Pope Francis stated last week, we worship the same God.”

It is despicable. Just imagine the uproar if the media tried to say what Muhammad would be down with.

Seriously.... I think Muhammad would be fine with gay marriage, just look here in the Quran.

All those virgins they have been promised... both male and female.

We really need to stop labeling true Islam as the extremists.

Just this morning Dear Abby used a verse from the Bible…wrongly, of course. She's Jewish and thinks because she sees some verse that she thinks it's about what she's thinking that it's appropriate. Unfortunately, even though there's more than 300 verses in the O.T. (Jewish Torah) concerning Jesus she never sees those. The most important is Isaiah 53 and yet they close their eyes despite it hitting them in their faces. But…it is in the Bible that they would ignore them, to their demise.

If you really want a good illustration of how the Old Testament prophecies foretell Jesus as the Messiah, partake in the seder.

Completely agree. I'm so tired of people throwing out Bible verses and either disregarding the context or ignoring or butchering the meaning.

I checked with some my former colleagues still in newspapers. They haven't been to a seminary or written anything regarding Christianity. Therefore, it's obvious not every journalist in America has been to a seminary. Since you got that wrong, I must assume the rest of your post is suspect as well.

I kid. Nobody likes a smartass or a reporter. We're like lawyers, cops and soldiers, to name a few. People hate us until they need us.

Judaism, Islam, and Christianity are all branches of the same religious tree. A lion, a tiger, and a panther are all cats, but they're not the same animal.

People hate you because the most prominent journalists, newspapers, and media companies are liberally biased and see reporting as a team sport cheering for Democrats.

Oh, and to make it doubly right I know that in some countries this reading material is used to clean their you-know-whats. What would they do without you? They would have to deplete the forests for, ugh, real toilet paper.

Sex with 8 year old boys I would imagine.

It would not surprise me at all if homosexuality was secretly rampant in Islam. They keep all the women covered up and never get to date or socialize with anyone but other men. I suspect some redirect that frustration into homosexuality, and others redirect it into Jihad.

Of course they don't need the wild sex, the Jihad or any of it. They need to accpet Jesus is the Son of God and walk with him.
