TXST hasn't beaten a good team yet... but no bad losses either.

I think top 3 are clearly Little Rock, UTA and Ga State. Bottom 3 are GS, App, and Ark St. Hard to rate the 5 in the middle right now.

That must be a strength of schedule ranking.
I don't know why UL would be ahead of ULM after losing to them..

And ULM's last two losses have kept them from separating from anyone else in the middle of the pack.

stAte over USA is a head scratcher too.
TXST at 6th may be right. I only put them 4th because I couldn't find a reason not to.

Pomeroy understand that we may finish 1-19 in league, but that win will come over South Alabama.

Actually, it probably has to do with our SOS being halfway decent, but we'll go with the other.

I'm not even mad about App being in the bottom of every power ranking. As much as I wish we weren't so awful at basketball, App is a football school in a basketball state.

I like watching Southern succeed in b ball, but program has a way to go to remain consistent each n every yr.

I'm not sure Southern will ever be upper tier in conference. Facility upgrades need to be made and tradition in b ball isn't there. We do have talent in Georgia, but the passion is not there from fans and alum.

I'm sorry, GSU is still the team to beat and have been for the prior two years. Until conference season starts, GSU should be first. We play UTA on the 30th and that'll be a test of who is the best.

1. GSU 7-2
2. UALR 10-1
3. UTA 9-2

4. TXST 6-3
5. Troy 5-6
6. ULM 5-7
7. USA 5-6
8. UL 4-6
9. GS 4-6
10. stAte 4-7

Disagree. That's not how "power rankings" work anyways. They are all about what you have done on the court/field.

Little Rock and UTA both have better resumes right now. It's great to say that there is not one bad loss among the top three teams, but with UTA beating Ohio State and Memphis on the road and Little Rock beating San Diego State and Tulsa on the road, they get the edge. GSU's best win is Middle Tennessee at home. We hung with UAB (9-3) and Ole Miss (10-2) on the road, but we couldn't pull off wins.

Wednesday will tell us a lot.

If we'd been undefeated then I could understand the logic but UTA and ULAR have had some impressive showings. More so than us that UAB game really gives me heartburn. Till we beat them head to head I'd say UTA first, then UaLR , then us.

This is a power ranking based off of early results, not a decision on who the team to beat is. Little Rock and UTA both had better OOC resumes than Georgia State did, thus they are being ranked 1-2.

If Georgia State beats UTA on Wednesday, this conversation will be very different.

Agreed. I can't justify us being higher than 3

Enjoy those RPIs 50 and under for the next few days, guys. That's the highest they'll be all year.

RE: Sun Belt MBB Power Rankings 12/27
SBC RPI's this year are tending to show things heading in the same direction for basketball that they went for football. 3 Dominant teams who are rarely challenged in league play run through the league to the point that a single loss to a team outside the top 3 is rare.

I don't think it finishes that way because I think Troy, ULM, and Texas State are better than what RPI says right now, but it's possible.
