I really like the Big 12! I was just wanting some of y'all's input about Southern Miss possible invite when realignment comes around again. Yes, we have a small athletic budget, a stadium that only seats 38,000 capacity...need new facilities in basketball. But the upside is, (1) USM football is a consistent winner throughout our history, except with the Ellis Johnson episode and trying to rebuild (3 seasons) after his 0-12 season. But we are back to winning again (2) The Big 12 would be right in the middle of SEC territory if USM was chosen. (3) if chosen, USM would grow quicker with the resources at a fast rate and the Miss State's, Ole Miss's, Alabama's, LSU's, and Auburn's of the world would absolutely hate the idea of USM as a member of The Big 12 because of recruits and the invasion of this conference in the Mississippi. Southern Miss has done more with less than anyone out there and have on yearly basis kept up with Miss State and Ole Miss without having the Resources that they have had from the SEC. Imagine what the Big 12 and Southern Miss could accomplish together in this region! USM's growth with help of membership of the Big 12 could be beneficial to both. We have very fertile recruiting here and USM just needs that extra hump to get over and we could own Mississippi with Big 12 membership and presence and logo here in Mississippi!
