It'll take you winning one without a coach to sort of put that behind you.

Also I fault Fritz and his agent for being so damn public about searching for a new job. To me that was classless and it played a big part I think in our getting woodsheded by GaSt. It was insulting to GS in light of what we were offering him in a new contract

The alternative is lying his ass off to the community, the alumni, the administration, the fans and his players like MOST outbound coaches choose to do.

RE: An honest question of GaSouthern fans
I think that most of us in his age group can look at Fritz' situation and say, if we're honest, that we'd do the same thing under the same circumstances. I said several weeks ago that I thought if we kept him a couple more years, he'd retire at GS. I also commented that another coach (who will remain unnamed) would be more likely to get a bigtime offer. I think Fritz probably realizes that the chances are slim to none that he'll get a shot at a P5 program. Those guys usually hire young or, if they go with a guy in his 50's, it's a guy who's already been a big winner at that level.

He's setting his retirement and his post-coaching life. Can't blame him for that.

And if Fritz does have success, he knows Tulane has the money to give him a significant raise.

In Willie's case it's perfectly understandable he was out there trying to land any AAC or P5 job, he is in his late 50s, running out of time

As far as I am concerned he's on the green team now and not the blue and white team, quite literally and figuratively. Therefore, to me he doesn't exist and I could care less what happens to him, good, bad, or indifferent. All I care about is GS and he ain't one of us anymore, so f--- him.

I wish him luck, but not with great gusto or anything. Seemed like a nice guy, his shelf life as a football coach ends in maybe 6-10 years, he had a extremely low buyout this year due to our president leaving which would have been negotiated upwards in any renewal at GS, he struck while the iron was hot, oh well.

Would he still be coaching at Ga So if the move to FBS didn't happen?

I wish him nothing but the best. This isn't a charity, it's his job. He's great at it so he got a better job, that's the American dream.

A lot of us (crazy message board folk) take these things personally but at the end of the day it's a bunch of kids playing a game.

RE: An honest question of GaSouthern fans
Looking at CFs body of work he is the definition of can't get his team up for the big game. Much like Mark Richt he lacks the keel too often. He makes up for most of this with the Xs and Os and solid recruiting but too often comes out way too flat and lays the egg. ANY distraction leads to the beat down on one of these days. He needs to step up his game if he's to lead Tulane to any sort of success. Xs and Os want be enough.

I have no ill will towards Fritz and don't blame him at all for leaving. He was a good coach for us, but we will be fine without him. I honestly hope he does well at Tulane.

RE: An honest question of GaSouthern fans
Dude did what he felt he had to do, good for him. He's not a young guy and Tulane might be his last big chance.
Besides, I really haven't cared much about a coach leaving since PJ left for Navy all those years ago. College football has become so much more like the pro game these days I really can't feel all that stoked about it. I still pull for my teams, but that's about as emotionally invested as I care to get anymore.

Hope he does big things at Tulane and jumps ship again in two years to join the P5. I'm just ready to win this bowl game and find our next head coach that will continue the winning tradition at GS.

Forgive me if it's already been said, but didn't Mike Ayers at Wofford interview when Fritz did? I'm not sure how many more years Ayers has in him, but it would seem like a decent fit.

Pry, Fritz and Ayers were the top 3 last time but Pry withdrew and Fritz aced the interview. Glad we didn't take Ayers not because he isn't a good coach but because Fritz was the right guy at the time.

RE: An honest question of GaSouthern fans
Well, if coaches leave for bigger jobs that makes the position more attractive. If they are mediocre or fail at the other jobs, that shows that it was more about something special at your school than it was the coach possibly. Lots of morons on message boards boldly predicted that once Malzahn left we would go back to 5 or 6 wins and we would not continue to improve our program. They were dead wrong and Malzahn appears human now.
