Football Quarterfinals
Richmond up 10-0, but Lauletta out with an arm injury. Illinois State defense looks questionable and their offense went three and out.

Football Quarterfinals
Jacobi Green makes the Redbird D look stupid on a great TD run. Spiders up 32-14 with 10:00 to go.

I am now officially rooting for Richmond [for the rest of the year], and, I have never, ever done this before!

PLEASE tell me you are not serious! I get rooting for a team that knocks you out of the playoffs to go far. But not your rival. Not one in your conference. Not one in your state. Not one who is 50 miles away. Not one who beat you twice in the same season. Not one who already has one National Championship. No, no, no!

Richmond clearly better than Illinois State. Go Spiders! Go CAA!

Al Groh pegged this game early seeing Richmond winning in the trenches. Ill. St. had 78 yards rushing, and Coprich was throttled throughout. Richmond OL got it done in the 4th.

I cannot pull for the Spiders, but they are physical, have good athletes, and are well coached. They are young, so will be a force again net year. Likely look for more transfers to fill in gaps.

Note that JSU's starting front four were all FBS transfers, most from the SEC. JSU has 12 FBS transfers

Especially when it's over a Missouri Valley team. They have been stealing our thunder for 2-3 years now.

So if Richmond wins the title do we get to hang a banner out of CAA solidarity?

RE: Football Quarterfinals
Are we going to need to play more of the transfer game to stay competitive?

And I can't remember the last time we took a line transfer. Only the so called skilled players.

RE: Football Quarterfinals
IMO, the transfer route allows for short-term gain at the expense of long-term loss ... just ask Delaware.

Has to make recruiting high school students more difficult when they know that a school will take in transfers that will affect the natural progression of ... commitment, red-shirt, scout team, back-up and then starter.

I'd think twice about committing to a school as a high school student if all of the hard work and patience goes for naught when all of a sudden a transfer shows up.

I think W&M's philosophy of the occasional transfer is just fine.

Al Groh (Rocco's mentor), also, pegged that Cluley had a very slow throwing release which allowed DB's to key on......

Tough win for Spiders to go on road and beat last year's runner-up, after having exam week. Did what they had to do by getting up early and forcing Ill St away from their strength. Hats off. Rocco has set a very optimistic tone for several weeks in his interviews about this team's chances. More success they have, the more potential for someone to come woo Rocco away from UR, which only helps us. If Rocco left, would be interesting to see if they entertain London coming back. They may be young, but lose some key players after this year.
