Mohajir on Sun Belt, Bowls, etc
Figured I'd link because as many of you have figured out by now...he likes to talk.

Summary:
Bowls: New Orleans Officially invited Arkansas State the Sunday after the NMSU game. Go Daddy and Montgomery followed soon after

Said New Orleans Bowl had privately told teams this year that they were probably going to take the league champ regardless how the Cajuns did this year, for a change of pace. The way he talked, the same would had applied had App won the league.

Claimed AState is not annoyed about the SBC Trophy Presentation snub...though he sounded annoyed when he talked about it. Also said to prove it, he and Blake Anderson actually sat at the same table as Karl Benson last night, and nothing happened!

Southern Miss did indeed make it very clear that they were not interested in playing Arkansas State. The official reasoning was the option to play a 6-6 P5, though he believes that it's at least partially because he was smart enough to do something that they weren't. (Blake Anderson)

Said it's funny that La Tech fans are saying the same thing about Arkansas State now that they were saying 25 years ago when he was playing Tech.

Was asked whether we had tried to schedule Tech for football series before. Answer was that we have tried in every single sport. Was asked if he knew why none were scheduled, Said he has a guess, but he'd rather repeat it in front of a thousand AState fans at a pep rally than in a radio interview.

Said Tech is in the lead in tickets sold right now between the two programs. Reminded us that we are the TV side fan base for the game, and he has set a target of 15K for Red Wolves fans in NOLA. Said Tech is a great team and will be a difficult game.

The rest was basketball junk

You can shine 'em, but a turd will always stink.

A couple of turds in C-USA.

They had already beaten the biggest one in Ruston.

Blake Anderson miss may be some of it, but the primary reason USM didn't want the NOLA was they would rather play a P5 school. So would every other CUSA and SBC team. USM, stAte, and La Tech all would get better mileage out of beating a P5 team. That's just the way it is.

Outside of Marshall, USM, and WKU, I would consider most of C-USA turdish.

Yeah, but we're better than Washington. Don't have their name, but we're a better football team.

I'm confident of it. They didn't look very good this year.

Nope Western chose Miami and USF over the P5 school. No one but the fans of that school cares about beating a 6-6 P5 team. Hell I bet most people outside of CUSA couldn't name the team Tech beat last year in their bowl. And other than Tech fans and message board fans I bet 80% of other CUSA fans couldn't name the team Tech beat....6-6 Ill.

But a game with a great ending gets remembered. So in that respect Western got more mileage out of beating CM than Tech beating Ill. Some of it for giving up a huge lead...

but when you are G5 all press other than getting caught cheating or poking a Navy player in the eye is GREAT press....during bowl season
