RE: OT: Star Wars Thread [Warning: Spoilers]
Very vague on plot details. It tries to appeal more to emotion.

I like spaceships. There are many spaceships, and many that I recognize from the previous movies and shows.

Hopefully they "end the saga" with something of substance that doesn't rely entirely on the spectacle of it all. We've already seen one popular IP tanked at the last minute (minute...season...multiple seasons...whatever)

RE: OT: Star Wars Thread [Warning: Spoilers]
Why George Lucas Was Disappointed With The Force Awakens

Quote:"Just prior to the global release, Kathy screened The Force Awakens for George. He didn’t hide his disappointment. ‘There’s nothing new,’ he said. In each of the films in the original trilogy, it was important to him to present new worlds, new stories, new characters, and new technologies. In this one, he said, ‘There weren’t enough visual or technical leaps forward.’"

They cancel each other out? Good and evil. Matter and anti-matter.

RE: OT: Star Wars Thread [Warning: Spoilers]
One thing I liked about "Solo" was that they seemed to rectify the 'Han shot first' controversy (which he did) by showing Han...shooting first. Good.

Now, they f***ed with the famous scene in the original Star Wars yet again:

The infamous 'Han shot first' scene in 'Star Wars' has changed yet again on Disney+

I wish they'd just leave it the way it was origin ally done...makes so much more sense. Sigh, oh well. Bodes not well for the upcoming SW IX.
Thank you Greedo, may I have another?

less than a month away now. Likely won;t go see it until the lines have died down, which may not be too long if it's as bad as TLJ.

I went to every Star Wars movie ever made (yes, I am that old) within a few days of release, but I plan not to go until I am sure it is not a repeat of the last movie debacle.

If Yoda had lived just a little longer than in "Jedi", he'd have finally got around to playin' his own tunes (and changed his name to Steve Mackay):

Guess it's Star Wars day, right? Wonder if anyone will go. I'll wait a bit.

Next week for me. Imax 3D. Looking forward to it.

Reviews seem decent. Very apparent that a) Johnson deviated from the path laid out by Abrams in XII, and b) Abrams - being cognizant of that has worked diligently to clean up that mess. So, I look forward to see how he's able to save this thing - if in fact he has.

Haven't seen it, but reviews are disappointing. Looks like Disney really screwed up the saga with the 3 newest movies. Never thought the prequels would be "good" by comparison. Hopefully the stand alone movies and shows redeem the franchise.

Just watched it. I thought it was pretty good. Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better than the TFA or TLJ. I really disliked and hated both of those movies but RoS was soooo much better. There's a few things I can nitpick on but overall, considering what JJ Abrams was working it, it was a good. By far the best of the new trilogy. 3rd times a charm!

But did he fix it? TLJ broke the Star Wars universe. I doubt Abram's was able to fix it in 2 and a half hours.

You pay like 4 billion dollars or whatever it is for this franchise and you don't write all 3 movies out or have a firm idea where it starts and ends for the directors you hire? WTF man.

Bringing back the emperor and all the fan service was dumb and predictable but Abrams really had no choice after what the last bum did to Snoke and the franchise. I think he mostly rescued it in the end. Unfortunately Luke's arc was pretty much ruined and the movie he was the focus of I think now gets skipped over.

Pretty much spot on.

I saw the film las night. It was about as good as possible given the last movie.
