End of season Power Rankings, sponsored by GSU_Eagles
1. Arkansas State: Red Wolves became the first Sun Belt Opponent to go 8-0, and win every game by 10 plus points in the process
2. Appalachian State: Mountaineers finish with best overall record and 2nd best SBC mark. Lead the world in defense and kicking.
3. Georgia State: Panthers got off to an incredibly slow start, but ran through the last 4 games. They were literally a few plays from winning 9 games, as crazy as that sounds.
4. Georgia Southern: Takes their first loss to an SBC team outside of App State, but Eagles fans probably wish they had lost to someone, anyone else.
5. South Alabama: Showed great fight today when they could have gave up, but ultimately they will rue several key mistakes that cost them late in games this year
6. Troy: Troy football may be starting to finally turn things around. If they do, this conference will get really interesting, and fast.
7. New Mexico State: Tough loss today, but they are a few good defensive players from being bowl eligible next season
8. Idaho: 4-8 is acceptable for the Vandals. Especially given the injury list that is a mile long. With Linehan back, they enter next year like NMSU, probably a solid defense away from being bowl eligible
9. UL-Lafayette: Scott Farmer has tied his rope directly to the S.S. Hudspeth. He better hope the ship doesn't sink.
10. UL-Monroe: Nice to see the Senior go out with a win today. They get ranked here simply because they have hope for the future with a new coach coming in.
11. Texas State: It is alarming how Dennis Franchione managed to turn a team with everyone back from a 7-5 season into a 3-9 team. There are many problems in San Marcos right now, and I'm not sure they have the right people in place to solve those problems.

You went 8-0, but you did not win every game by 10 plus. You won 7 by 10 plus with a 30-27 win at Arkansas State sandwiched in between.
Georgia Southern went 8-0 last year, but didn't do it by 10 plus every game thanks to the ULM game.

Must be following same rule Mrs White said I used in 5th grade English, just tossing commas in here and there as the mood strikes.

We actually didn't return everyone from last year. I mean, our 2 best D guys (aside from Orakpo who went down vs Navy) are on NFL rosters. DE Odiari was a big loss. I hear one guy that transferred out was unceremoniously sent packing by Fran. Another DE found his niche working with folks with disabilities (is that politically correct?). Lost a really good Safety in Targun. The D was a patchwork at best the whole year. Even Mims crapped out.
Our O was left fairly unscathed but Fran's playbook is just an offense killer. TJ has totally regressed. He still won't use the pass play (it's an unknown entity) and when he actually does the guys are so unused to it that it rarely works. He even ground Lowe down so that he missed almost all of last week (he was in a few plays for Sr day) and didn't even travel this week. (turf toe). We lost Franks, as he #2 back and although we got Nutall back Fran rarely used him. Charlie Will, OLine, was a gap we needed to fill and Miller at TE.
We did lose 25 Seniors last year so it's not like we didn't lose anyone.
I'm just ranting on a few points. There is just so much wrong and we are resigned to the fact nothing is going to change at TXST until Teis drops dead and/or Fran goes on his own.........neither will happen.

Sounds about right. Like the cop zipping along doing 85 to get to Waffle House after running radar on the interstate

That's a running gag. I actually have a degree in English...I just suck at grammar.

Very generous sponsorship by GSU_Eagles.

Haha. I thought the power poll had been retired as it hadn't been posted for a couple of weeks. There were even some that said if Ga Southern beat UGA then we would be #1. Of course we didn't win, but the OT against a 9-3 SEC team raised eyebrows.
That said, after yesterday's third ostrich egg laid this season I can go with chief's ranking. Congrats Red Wolves! Now let me go check on those computer rankings.
