Would imagine they would have extended it for whatever length he desired. He'll be 75 at the end of the extension, which may have been his wish to slow down and/or spend his later years on other interests. Just hope we can find a worthy successor when the time comes.

I had the pleasure of having dinner with TRIII once. He is truly the man. I hope he stays president as long as he can.

A great W&M president and a wonderful person. We are fortunate to have him here for two more years.

I think President Revelry has done a great job. I also think President Sullivan did a good job. We just have to hope we get an excellent successor unlike he was must not be named who followed Sullivan.

Great president who has guided W&M through a difficult transition from the previous president, faced tough challenges from government funding, and other issues.....all while being a student/alumni favorite.
It's also a huge plus that he supports athletics

I think that it would be pretty neat if he and Robert Gates sat in the student section for part of the game today.

this makes sense... hopefully they are already starting the search for the next person then.
I didn't realize he was in his 70s.
He was my first choice when I ranked the candidates when the final few were on campus for interviews etc when Timmy J was leaving... if only the school listened to my ranking!

Gene was a loser. TR is the perfect fit. A great guy; with a better half.

Let's hire from within for the replacement. Picking someone who is already a sports fan would make a lot of sense to me also. How about the Dean of the Business School?

I know Dean Pulley pretty well, and while he DOES love Tribe sports (never misses a hoops game), he's not a huge fan of fundraising. As we all know, fundraising is the primary job of a university president in 2016. But, Pulley is a very likable man, and he'd have my support.

Pulley has done a really good job fundraising for and running the Business School - anyone who has seen the new Business School building, Miller Hall, has got to be impressed. I thought they were smoking dope when they started talking about a $50 Million Fund Raising Campaign for the Business School - and then there it was!
