UNCW Basketball by the numbers
Some statistics that jump out coming out of the ETSU victory:

* After creating 21 turnovers and committing just 13 on Saturday, we now have a turnover margin of 9.8, # 1 in the country. Behind us are Providence (9.0) Villanova (8.0) and West Virginia (7.8). No one else is above 7.0.

* ETSU only had 1 offensive rebound in the entire first half on Saturday. They didn't collect another until halfway through the 2nd half, when the game was already well in hand, finishing with just 4.

* Devontae Cacok, after yet another efficient offensive performance in which he had 13 points on just 8 field goal attempts, is now sporting a .762 field goal percentage on the season. If he were over the minimum shot attempt threshold to be eligible, this would rank him ahead of Purdue's Isaac Haas (.756), currently NCAA.com's highest-ranked player in the country in FG %.

* Chuck Ogbodo, after swatting his 11th shot on Saturday, still ranks in the NCAA top 20 in blocked shots/game (2.75). As a team we are still Top 50 in this category. Our frontcourt woes from last year seem like ancient history these days with the way we're defending the rim.

* Chris Flemmings had 3 steals Saturday and now has 9 on the season. His 2.25 steals/game ranks him in the Top 50 nationally, despite playing a modest 23 minutes per game (5th on the team). As a team we are 8th in the nation in steals per game (10.4).

* Most importantly, our 1.000 % win percentage puts us t-15th in the nation when factoring in games played as a "tiebreaker".

By the way, since we beat Eastern Kentucky by 19 points 15 days, ago, they've reeled off 5 straight wins to improve to 6-1 (5-1 against D-I). Makes that win look even better for us.

Nice, but very soft 5 opponents. They get Kentucky next Wednesday

I know, but still, lol. Just helps to know our schedule hasn't been quite as soft as people think. EKU and ETSU are both currently top 150 in the RPI (ETSU top 80) and we blew both of them out. Beat Georgetown and our resume in the early going looks very good.

G'twon game looms large. Hofstra, Tribe, CofC and NU have marquee wins so far. Helps the overall RPI of the CAA, but IF an at-large opportunity exists, and we're battling for a spot over any of them, we don't have that name brand W to break a tie.

A whole lot of ball to be played before Hawks can even think about that. And, head to head also means a lot.

WM squeaked out the win with some gritty play down the stretch. Another good OOC victory for the CAA.

The CAA is now 31-23 against non-conference DI opponents.

That's actually pretty impressive, and very unlike recent experience.
