Question of the week, Ga State fans:
Why?!?

Because we want them to put up or shut up?!?

That's it. That's all I want.

Hey, I resemble that statement.

Seems that State's Geography Department is as formidable a it's football program. 03-lmfao

(Here's where a Georgia State fan should make an English department joke)

Eh...the GS English jokes would probably require their own forum. Talon alone would merit a running thread, and he hardly even posts.

If you'll notice, no one bothered to point out that this thread was started by proudly proclaiming that Eagle fans traveled "in mass" to Atlanta last year. I guess the thread is challenging us to travel "in volume" to Statesboro this year?

LOL...few have attended as many away games as I have. Nothing to prove. I am sure there will be plenty of GSU fans there. If we win there will be even more at a bowl game. The way I can explain it is this. If we were still in FCS I would never return to Sc State. I would however attend Jacksonville State in a second. You can get excited for a game and have a rivalry without being an ass. Novel concept.

And then be surprised when no one takes him up on his offer.

We just want a real rival that actually gives a damn. "I don't want to set foot in Statesboro" is just not a good enough excuse. This is the biggest football game in Georgia State's short history. One win away from bowl eligibility, against their most hated in-state rival. If the roles were reversed, Southern fans would show up in droves, we saw that last year. Unfortunately this "rivalry" is about as much fun as poking a dead corpse with a stick.

It took 3 years to run off Panther fans. It will take that many consecutive winning seasons to get them back. Be happy that you have not had to experience a prolonged downturn.

Question of the week, Ga State fans:
We have. 4 years brought on by He Who Shall Not Be Named 3-8 and bolted for an assistant job in ATL.

He's currently the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame.

Really? So you won a total of 5 games over the course of those 4 years, including a winless season and 2 single-win seasons? With a single winning season in the program's history to fall back on? I appreciate your efforts to give Eagle fans "street cred," but you should be happy you have such a winning tradition to lean on. One thing I've never disparaged is Southern's history of producing a winning product. That's good for you. No need to go on like a neurosurgeon insisting on a violent past that no one else saw...

My wife and will be hosting a couple of Ga. State fans for the weekend. Their son is one of the drum majors for the band and he's a Senior so this will be his last game. Leaving McDonough at 4pm Friday heading to our farm in Lyons for the night. We'll be departing Lyons around 9am for Statesboro. Hoping all fans will be cordial and welcoming.

Hang on. How does...
3-8
7-4
6-5
5-6
12 home wins

Compare to
3-8
1-10
0-12
1-11
4 home wins

One is a mix of clouds and sun and the other is a Siberian winter. Now that the sun is shining, it is gonna take some time for the ice to melt.

Your time frame is worse but for GA Southern those 4 years were the dark years of our program.

I understand that, but that is like saying, "I know what you are going through. It isn't that bad," to someone who just had their house hit by an EF5 tornado when your place got hit by an EF0 10 years ago.

This. Well over half of our students and alumni come from the same high schools there is no reason not to attend an in state game where you can make it home easily after the game.

You don't know GS football very well. Going 3-8 and missing the playoffs was the same as 0-11 so was 7-4 6-5 and 5-6. We fired a .700+ winning coach for not winning enough playoff games...

C'mon Stan, we all know an EF5 has never hit this state. My brother drove strait into the last EF4 (he went to Tech, so has no common sense) over 20 years ago. The correct analogy would be an EF0 to an EF3. Get your facts strait.

Also, are you going to make it down for the game? 03-lmfao

The truth is that our fans want to be excited and to help with the excitement of the game, they want Georgia State fans to be amped up too. That's all.

So if I understand you correctly... what you are saying is 0-11 was the same as 7-4 and 6-5?

I bet recruiting was just as tough when you were 7-4 or 6-5 as 0-11. So season tickets over that 4 year period dropped by 75%. How about the articles about how Southern should rethink having a football team for such a dismal performance of a 7-4 and 6-5? Man. How did you survive that bad press when it came to fundraising?

Man you don't even know the first thing. I know Southern has to be tops in everything, but let us have this one. I used to think I hope no one ever has to go through what I have, but the more I hear about your low point, which is as high as our high point, I kinda wish y'all would know what a couple 1 win seasons are like.

Oh we are amped up. But the more we act like we are not, the more it drives some Southern fans crazy.

I wish I was making it. I will be celebrating my first anniversary do to some bonehead planning by me. Our last game was never past Thanksgiving weekend. Forgot all about how the Belt still scheduled games this weekend. And planned a trip before the schedule came out.

+1. Outside of this game, GS has no business being associated with us. But, I'm looking forward to it.
