You also have to be realistic about your situation and who you really are. If GS is going to move to a new conference we know it will have to be as a result of winning the G5 auto multiple times. Until that happens, the SBC is a great place for us to build the program.

We are realistic and know the POTENTIAL we have. Lafayette is the richest city per capita in Louisiana. 40,000 LSU season ticket holders reside in Acadiana, they view us as a FCS+ program. A huge portion of the 40k are alumni that we are trying to woo back and get them to donate to UL instead of LSU. We have 3 alumni alone that are worth close to 8 Billion combined. 2 of the 3 donate strictly to LSU.

We don't pretend to know what it's like to be a FCS transition team, we have never been one. We are in a run right now as an athletic program that is home to 2 too 25 programs, 4 bowl wins in the last 5 years, a NCAA tournament appearance with a 1st Rd draft pick and another likely 1st Rd pick this year. WBB on the rise as well.

Also as a culture, we are not a know your place type of people. With that being said, realistic fans don't see us as a P5 program either, more like the AAC minus UCONN.

No fan fromm Appalachian St. Or Georgia Southern should.be offended by what GeauxCajuns or myself are stating....I was on the FB staff at UL from '86 to '94...in 1987 we went to Monroe and beat ULM the year they won the 1aa National Championship. I followed the great Georgia Southern teams that won multiple Championships with a QB named Hamm. We ran the same offense at the time with the great Brian Mitchell. I am aware of the great football played by the top programs in FCS. I lobbied our AD and President to vote Appalachian St and Georgia Southern in as members. If we had to go the FCS route I wanted the best. We have never been 1aa or FCS. Our fans know where we should have been a long time ago. This is a competitive Conference and we have the talent to make a run next year.......we were the only original member of this Conference that was FBS and we are still here when 5 other members have moved to CUSA.....it is frustrating to us....
