I believe if you can't get a yard you should lose.

If we punt this ball, I think I might die a little on the inside

Gameplan for Richmond. 2 TE set the entire game, run the ball down Richmond's throat, and onside kick everytime we score

101 points scored. When is the last time W&M has been in a game like this that didn't go into OT

To think we lose this game if Claytor didn't block that chip shot FG...

Well worth the $ to host if being at home helped us pull that out.

RE: Game 1 - Duquesne
Great effort by Anderson to extend the ball to get the first down. Duquesne came to play.

I guess this is another stage to be thrilled about the win and don't dare be critical of how we played, right?

This was a barn burner and I'm sure a great game to see in person.

RE: Game 1 - Duquesne
Team shows great character but not good passing D, next week we need better pressure on the QB as their receivers are too tall and good for us to stop otherwise. Team wanted payback tour to finish, few get second chances like we have now!

RE: Game 1 - Duquesne
the only hope I have for next week, is that last time we played Richmond, I was sure they would blow us out of the stadium after watching JMU do whatever they wanted to us... and then against Richmond, the defense played ok.

but this game was not encouraging at all

RE: Game 1 - Duquesne
Lets just all breath and attribute the poor defensive play to thinking forward to Richmond. The corners HAVE to do a better job against their wideouts. Richmond will do the same thing to us.

We've got some work to do. Secondary got shredded tonight. And another game without much of a pass rush.

While we are at it, let's get the basketball team to work on their free throws and rebounding.

RE: Game 1 - Duquesne
What bothers me the most is the lack of overall development on defense.

Wow. Great game. It looked like the refs swallowed their whistles tonight. That duq player should have been ejected.

RE: Game 1 - Duquesne
One of the wildest games I've seen over the years at Zable.

*Better work on pass defense for UR...our backs were 8-10 yards off the receivers consistently leading to easy pass completions.

*On the other hand the offensive line had a great bounce back game...the last TD drive, all runs over tackle,
was a thing of beauty by the line and Anderson.

*Cheap shot on Dedmon was one of the worst hits to hurt an opponent I've ever seen..I've never seen
Jimmye so livid. Their player should have been immediately ejected.

*Dedmon needs to get the ball more...say 10-12 times a game. He is a great player and threat to score every time. Nobody can keep with him.

*Cluley had a terrible interception, but he did hit 12 of 15 for 3 TDs. He also ran very well for solid yardage.

Hard to know what to expect next week against Richmond.

Beyond lack of development, we seem to have regressed! Is it personnel, scheme, execution or a combination of both? Taking nothing away from a very good Duquesne team--how do we allow their QB! to throw for > 400 yards and a personal records 6TD's?This is a team that scored only 14 points on Albany and they more than tripled that output today.

I want to be optimistic about next Saturday vs Richmond. I believe that our offense will be much improved. Our defense, on the other hand, is no easy fix. Especially not in 6 short days. Laycock needs to take a long hard look at his DC, once the season ends, and probably make changes.

With the right leadership, the personnel that we will have next season could go a long way.

There is talent on the defense. Many of these guys (Luke, Tyler, Deandre) were key guys on the really good 2013 defense. That defense had attitude and attacked. Have not been seeing that the last two years.......
