I agree with the posts by BT2 and Tribe32, that was a good win last night, if a little sloppy at times.
Hampton, obviously, played without Chevious (the UT transfer), who is definitely their best player, due to a wrist injury. He should be back soon, which is good for us. They are going to beat some good teams with him in the lineup and we will benefit, RPI-wise, from that.
Terry Tarpey is rapidly becoming my favorite basketball player (right after Stephan Curry...).
I don't know where his boundless energy comes from, but I hope he has a deep well of whatever it is.
Omar and Daniel are both going great. I just hope they look over at Mr. Tarpey and follow his "whatever is good for the team" mantra and don't get caught up in who scored last or most (which I, personally,
don't think is happening).
I like Cohn, as well, but his biggest asset is also his biggest liability, his speed. It definitely makes us more dangerous when he is pushing the offense and making the opponent make mistakes. However, when he goes TOO fast, it does just the opposite. When you get out of control on a breakaway and have no control over your layup shot, you are
still committing a turnover when the opponents players are the next two people down the court. He just needs to figure out when he needs to use "jet" speed and when just "fast" will do.
I was also impressed with the ball handling shown by Malinowski. I did not know he had those skills, shooting, yes, ball handling, who knew. He handled some pressure situations very well. That is a HUGE plus when trying to get your own shot.
Sean had a bit of an off night, but I am so pleased that when he goes to the FT line, we are not just giving the ball back to the opponent. He has really improved his FT shooting.
Towson won last night. That makes the CAA now
26-18 overall. That's the conference's best OOC record in a while. The top 5 teams are
16-5, with some definitely good wins. Let's hope it continues. On to Howard...
