Bowl outlook after Week 12
Looking like there may not even be 4 eligible Belt teams now after today's games:

But here is what we have:

Bowl Eligible:
Ark. St.
Ga. Southern
App. St.

Still with a chance:
South Alabama: Must win at least 1 of last 2 games (At Ga. Southern, Home vs. App. St.)
Ga. State: Must win both of 2 remaining games (Home vs. Troy, at Ga. Southern)
Louisiana: Must win both of 2 remaining games (at App. St., Home vs. Troy)

Out of contention:
Idaho
NMSU
Troy
ULM
Texas St.

App State and Georgia Southern can keep the Sun Belt from filling the 4th bowl spot.

It is interesting that all of the remaining games for teams in the hunt are vs. those two or Troy.

So if we only have 3 teams who decides where these teams go? Assuming Ark St goes to NO. Is it up to the bowl committees to decided where App St and Southern will play? I will be pissed if we have to go to Montgomery and the Cure Bowl is filled by another conference.

Get ready to get pissed. NOLA takes first pick, Mobile second, and Montgomery third. Unless someone is available that ESPN wants more for Montgomery, that's the destination. Only other way out is if App or AState collapse and making Georgia Southern more attractive.

From a pragmatic standpoint, Cure will have a much smaller viewership than any of the other three bowls being on CBS Sports.

We'd rather give our fans the opportunity to travel and experience the first bowl than have random gamblers watch our game because they had a hunch that day.

I definitely understand your point, but man if y'all play on CBS Sports, hardly anyone would even know that you're in a bowl game.

RE: Bowl outlook after Week 12
Don't think anyone wants Mobile, but it's looking very likely either App or GaSo will be headed there because they get second choice. Unless USA gets eligible (won't be easy) and they can pick a much worse team but they'll have a fanbase much closer and probably have better attendance. I don't want App going to Mobile mainly due to the date of the game but I also don't want the sun belt to get demolished by one of the best teams in the MAC. I can't help but feel like USA would get destroyed in the Go Daddy Bowl. I think easiest trip for me would go like this: Montgomery>Orlando>>>>New Orleans>Mobile

I'd say the differential would be about 500k people. We're still in the office pools and scores for bowls. I'd trade that viewership for the first bowl and give us an opportunity to sell twice the tickets should we need that metric next bowl season and the SBC has more eligible teams than slots.

There's an easy fix to that you know? Just lose to USA.

App could be facing two straight opponents playing for their bowl lives, could our conference schedule had been any tougher this year?

RE: Bowl outlook after Week 12
As crazy as the belt is, I see one of those 3 getting eligible.

USA can win 1 of the last 2. Ga So has emotional let down after this week and USA playing for a bowl last game of season -- both could lead to a Jag win.

GA State - those losses to UNCC and Liberty loom big now. But beat Troy and the way Arbuckle slings it, Panthers could go into Statesboro with a bowl bid on the line and win! Arbuckle and that pass offense is a pretty big equalizer.

Cajuns - WTF? Play Haack and get in a rhythm! Can still beat App and then play for a bowl against Troy!

All of those teams could pull it off. I think one of them will

I'm ready for a big flurry at the end of the season as South takes both against GaSo and Appy St. End the season 7-5.

Yes, you guys got Louisiana instead of NMSU.

GO JAGS!!!!

That could solve the Go Daddy issue. USA fills up stadium on a bad mid-week night and Hotels and restaurants really push for the MAC school to come down for Christmas. That is just a terrible time slot

stAte to NOLA, App to Montgomery and Ga So to Cure. If Ga St. gets eligible they would get an at-large.

Can't help but feel like this is the most likely outcome if USA gets eligible.

It's a sad state of affairs when we have been clammering for more bowls and now we have 4 and are working on a 5th we may not even fill them.

A GS fan talking about tough conference schedules, priceless.

Yeah...this can't help the argument...
