Defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt agrees. During his time with the media after Saturday’s game Pruitt brought up the fact that the UGA staff had communicated with the coaches of the team Georgia Southern played last week, Troy.

In talking with that staff, Pruitt said a clear message was relayed. While Troy had played the likes of Wisconsin, NC State, and Mississippi State, the Trojan coaches felt that GSU was the most physical team they had played all season.

Down on the field, when Ramsby vaulted into the endzone I had this sick feeling he had fumbled the ball because of the wall of sound that hit me and I was screened from the play to a degree. It was on the opposite side of the stadium from the block of Southern fans in 102, so I was taken aback just how many fans we had interspersed throughout the stadium.

Great showing by our fans, great showing by our team. I hope to never see us in that wildcat formation, period. At the beginning of the season there was some discussion about our coaching staff using some statistical analysis firm to give them some insights, I would bet that they'd find that play is the biggest dud in the 2015 playbook.

Hated the loss, but to me the loss in the 98 title game to UMASS still stings more than any other game we've ever played.

Eagles played their hearts out Saturday. Couple plays here and there made the difference, but that's in every close game.

As much as it pains me to say this.... way to rep the conference Georgia Southern. It was a national stage on ESPNU. And you took the fight to them. Hat tip.

Excuse me... I now have to bleach my keyboard.

I watched this game at the Taco Mac near the Georgia Dome and was astounded to see the vast majority of people were clearly cheering for Georgia Southern, as was I.

Stupid Chattanooga weather. Worst city ever to host a NC games in the winter. We play that game in decent weather city it is a blow out for us. It played right into their slow fat hands.

RE: Game Thread: Georgia Southern @ Georgia 7pm on ESPNU
Since the game, the fallout amoung the Atlanta sports talk radio commentators, specifically Buck Belue and John Kincaid form AM680 "The Fan", as well as WSB AM-750 analyst Eric Zeier really turned me off anything they have to say for a very long time. Explaining away Georgia's seemingly poor performance against a "former cupcake" was just intellectually dishonest if that's the right phrase.
John Kincaid never has had much of a kind word for GS, so I wouldn't expect any more from his childlike perspective.
Beleu and Zier are two former UGA quarterback greats, and I expect a certain degree of bias for their alma matter, but particularly Buck, who I grew up a fan of from his days at ThUGA, and an avid listener of the show when I have an opportunity to catch it. I expected a more balanced, thoughtful analysis than the damage control "spin" that he espoused. Rather then admit that Georgia faced and ultimately prevailed against what turned out to be a very worthy opponent in every since of the word, he and Zeier downplayed Georgia Southern and focused on Georgia's offensive woes. I just lost respect for their opinion at that point.
I grew up a Dawgs fan before attending Georgia Southern, and have several family members with degrees from the flagship, one of whom is an Assistant SID for UGA athletics, and the arrogance amongst some is at times insufferable. I'm convinced it's a symptom of UGA's athletics culture of snobbery.
I recall my cousin's words before the game with UF in 2013 stating that "if Georgia Southern were to beat Florida, it would be because the Gators were trying to get Muschamp fired". As it turned out, Georgia Southern won, and Florida didn't fire their coach until the following year.
Such rubbish, GS won't get the in state respect it deserves until Georgia is defeated, and even then, the explaining away "spin", like this time will have a tighter spiral than any ball thrown by either Buck Belue or Eric Zeier.
When, or if they resume this series, I hope Georgia Southern beats them like rented mules.

Unfortunately that's the narrative. Before the game our defensive rankings were because we played a garbage schedule, not because our players and scheme were actually good. The powerful UGA offense would score 30-40 on that weak defense. After the game it's because the uga offense has issues, not because the GSU players and scheme are good.

Uga fans and supporters live in a land of delusion, where they truly believe they are ALMOST Alabama, just one or two players or plays away. They believe they have that same tradition and perspective around the country, when in fact not even everyone in Georgia views them that way.

We may very well be the best win they have all year. They have been POUNDED by anyone worth a flip.

The second they acknowledge us as a threat, they have lost ground. They won't do it til we beat them. Even though they have accomplished shockingly little since the early 80s, they are still aloof about it. I am astounded that with their budget they can't field a better team .

This is not a southern thing for them, this how they operate after every loss unless it is s blow out. A blow out is the only time they will give the other side respect. It had nothing to do with us, we just happen to be in the order this year. Of course you can find this all over the country. Bama didn't give ole miss credit, they blamed it on their offense.

Also 680 is a megaphone for UGA athletics.

Other stations, including my area are giving us credit and ready for Richt to leave.

As long as Alabama takes care of business, we'll be their only win over a team with a winning record.

One day, hopefully sooner rather than later, we're gonna rattle off a couple of P5 wins.
