RE: CAA Tiebreakers
We could ruin Richmond's chances for a playoff with a win over them. They are now 7-3 with and if they lose, they will have lost 3 straight to end the season with only 2 wins over a team with a .500 record or better (JMU and Hampton and Hampton is not good and was only a 3 point win)

Long day. Back to the drawing board. Update in a few.

Latest and Greatest Attempt:

o Nova Beats JMU
 Threeway tie: WM, Nova and UR. Use Head-to-Head of Group:
• WM 1-1
• UR 1-1
• Nova 1-1.
 Kicks to Win Loss of next highest team of common opponents:
• Remaining Common opponents: JMU, Elon, Albany, Delaware
o WM/UR/Nova all have wins over JMU, Elon and Albany.
o UR/Nova beat Delaware, W&M lost to Delaware ; Tribe Falls out of contention.
 UR vs. Nova: Nova wins CAA Championship

UR didnt play Delaware & W&M didnt play Albany.

Not sure the AQ really matters - if we lose the AQ wont get us a seed and we are in the playoffs regardless.

We need to beat UR to get a seed and bye to rest that first week and get at least 1 home game. After that it's anybodys championship.

RE: CAA Tiebreakers
Tiebreaker should be a Jeopardy match between the three schools. Each school can pick 1 alum to represent them.

RE: CAA Tiebreakers
Based on the rules you posted in the initial post, If we lose & Nova beats JMU, I think it would go to the next rule which you stated was conf road wins. In that scenario UR has 2, we would have 2, and Nova would have 3.

So Nova would get the AQ. Caa would have 4 playoff teams in that scenario - 5/6 if UNH/Towson get in (both could be 7-4).

Does Richmond have a D2 on their schedule? If not, 7-4 against all D1 teams will get them into the playoffs. That said, OHMYGODBEATRICHMONDIHATETHEMSOMUCH.

Maybe, but the ticks didn't get in with an 8-3 record a few years back. That said, the CAA's tier 1 programs this season are W&M, UR, and JMU. Nova would probably get in if they beat the Dukes.

RE: CAA Tiebreakers
If Nova beats JMU next week, Nova will have 3 good wins (JMU, UR, and Fordham) and only losses would be to FBS UConn, Tribe, Penn (who just beat Harvard), and Towson. That would put them in the top tier of CAA programs.

If we beat Richmond next week, Richmond will only have 2 wins over teams with .500 records and one of those is Hampton by 3. JMU would be their 1 good win and there would be an argument that they would not be a tier 1 CAA program.

RE: CAA Tiebreakers
Here is the corrected chart showing the rule change effective 11/15/2102 that eliminated the road win and change the final tie breaker to Sagarin rating the Sunday after the final game:

THE RESULTS:

• Tribe Beats UR
o WM wins CAA Outright

• Tribe Loses to UR and…
oJMU beats Villanova
 Threeway tie: WM, JMU and UR.
• WM 1-1
• UR 2-0
• JMU 0-2.
UR WINS CAA CHAMPIONSHIP
o Nova Beats JMU
 Threeway tie: WM, Nova and UR. Use Head-to-Head of Group:
• WM 1-1
• UR 1-1
• Nova 1-1.
 Kicks to Win Loss of next highest team of common opponents which are only JMU:
• JMU highest ranked and all beat JMU
Use Sagarin rating to be released 11/22/2015!!

I believe that was prior to the expansion. With 24 teams and no MEAC auto bid, I think 7 wins out of the CAA, Big Sky, and MVFC gets you in. A lot of teams need to win tough games this week to make it to 7. Glad we're in and playing for a higher seed. Should help the team relax and play the way we have all season.

RE: CAA Tiebreakers
The knowledge that we get the Auto-bid only with a win, should be enough motivation.

UR has already put in bids to host games all the way through the playoffs.

As has the Tribe.

CAA Tiebreakers
Now that there are 8 seeds, bids really only matter for the first week, which we hopefully will be resting. I guess bids come in to play again if two non-seeds beat the seeded team in the 2nd week and then meet up. Other than that, it's higher seed hosts.

RE: CAA Tiebreakers
From today's Harrisonburg paper: http://www.dnronline.com/article/jmu_vil...w_11_21_15

No. 14 Richmond hosts No. 7 William & Mary at noon, and a Tribe win would give them the outright CAA title and the league’s automatic bid. If William & Mary loses, Richmond receives the CAA’s automatic qualifier for the playoffs if JMU beats Villanova. If the Dukes lose to the Wildcats, it would come down to Jeff Sagarin’s computer rating between UR, W&M and Villanova to determine the automatic bid.

Right now, we are 97, UR 124, and Nova 125.
