RE: CAA Basketball
Drexel just announced that Major Canady is out for the season with a knee injury. Second straight season he's missed, as he was out with an ankle injury last year.
Drexel's gotta fire their entire training staff sooner or later, I feel like every year they lost major players to injuries.

Drexel lost to High Point to fall to 0-2. We all know HP is a legit program, don't we?

High Point has had our number for years. Glad they're taking it out on some other CAA squad for once.

I find it "hurtful and offensive" to lose in anything to a school with the name of : "High Point"!!!!!!

I saw the Tribe coast to victory over High Point on the road just a few years ago. Teh Tribe was outstanding that night.

11/17/12 Tribe 83 High Point 61

Of course, John Brown was a freshmen that season.

RE: CAA Basketball
Kris Sears always pulls together good/interesting tidbits on the Tribe. Here are some nice stats from the first two games: (bolded are my favorites)

News and Notes
- The Tribe opens the home portion of its schedule against Washington Adventist on Thursday. W&M is 34-11 (.756) in home openers at Kaplan Arena, including an impressive 11-1 (.917) mark under head coach Tony Shaver. The Tribe has scored 75.8 points per game and owns a winning margin of 13.8 points in home openers under Shaver.

- W&M moved into 14th on the MidMajorMadness.com Power 15 this week and is receiving votes in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25.

- The Tribe was named the national team of the week by ESPN analyst Andy Katz, while head coach Tony Shaver was the national coach of the week according to ESPN's Dick Vitale following the program's win at N.C. State.

- The Green and Gold shot better than 50 percent in each of the first two games of the season and is shooting 53.3 percent on the year. Over the last three seasons, W&M is 27-3 (.900) when shooting 50 percent or better.

- The Tribe is averaging 21.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game off the bench, shooting 64 percent as a team. W&M has outscored each of its first two opponents in benching points and is 10-2 when scoring more than its foes off the bench over the last two seasons.

- W&M posted roads wins in its first two games this season for the first time since 1945-46 and just the third overall. It marks the eighth time the Tribe has won its first two road contests of the season in program history and the third such occurrence under head coach Tony Shaver.

- A win on Thursday would give W&M its 24th 3-0 start in school history and second in the last four years under head coach Tony Shaver.

Washington Adventist is an NAIA school. They lost to Norfolk State by 20 last week.

RE: CAA Basketball
Saturday is such a big day again for Tribe Athletics! A chance for another double this weekend. The stakes can't be much higher, until perhaps in 2 weeks.

Football going for a CAA Championship against the hated Spiders.
Basketball traveling to a place where mid-majors don't win in Dayton. Hoping for a lot of very, very happy Tribe fans at 4:30PM on Saturday. This is starting to remind me a little of November 2009.....

Don't forget the Tribe women battling Florida in the NCAA Soccer tournament on Friday night.

And not to get lost in the fray, Volleyball plays UNCW in the first round of the CAA tournament. They didn't have the best of seasons, but did snag a spot in the conference tournament. Good luck to the ladies for some upsets.

CAA needs to work on their free throws. Hofstra 12-21 on the line and loses by 1 to Indiana State.

JMU has had two terrible home losses in a row. The natives are restless.

Yeah, I saw the JMU losses. Quite unexpected...and not helpful to the league OOC.

According to one of our neighbors, a JMU fanatic, he says that despite the big quality upgrade in players
they still continue to play the usual JMU disorganized one on one basketball.
