Second week in a row where UT folded like a cheap tent at the first sign of adversity. Body language looks defeated, even with a lead.

Agreed. UT should run only with the occasional screen.
Ely is awful and is garbage on anything past 10 yards tonight.

Game. Does this officially eliminate CMU?

Not officially, no. Theoretically, Toledo could lose to WMU and BG, WMU could lose to BG, NIU, and whoever your other game is against, and NIU could lose to Ohio or Buffalo and they could still make it.
It pretty much eliminates them, though.
WMU and NIU are the only two teams in the West who control their own destiny right now.
EDIT: I just read that again, tough for Toledo and WMU to both lose when they play each other haha. I think it did eliminate them.

Much like our game. Got a sizable lead, followed that with missed opportunities that could have iced it, sealed the win with a lengthy ground drive at the end.
Toledo left 21 points on the field, much as we did. Could have easily been a lopsided game.

Rush even had an elusive long run to put the Chippewas in scoring position, much like he did against us.

You will literally do anything to take credit away from CMU. You act like CMU was blown out and got lucky. Our defense stuffed Toledo the entire 2nd half essentially. We did not deserve to win after going down 21-0 however.
We missed a FG, we were on the 2 yard line and got a dumb penalty, we commited dumb penalties in the 1st half, etc. But let me guess, that doesn't count because it's CMU...

After the past two games UT definitely looks beatable. Even if our game is in Toledo. I'm feeling more optimistic about our chances.
On another note, CMU out drew us in attendance on their weekday game by about 1,500. Wish the community and students would show more support for WMU athletics. Several winning programs and attendance still is nothing spectacular, for any sport.

Dan Enos is on the Arkansas coaching staff, that's how.

CMU is too slow to beat teams like UT and WMU.

I don't disagree. I'm saying this clown is literally spinning everything the opposite way. CMU could have been up 21-0 at UT and won 28-24 and it would be the opposite scenario and how "CMU blew it and got lucky". I'm all for rivalries but be reasonable geez.

Quote:How did this Toledo team win at Arkansas?
Arkansas got tons of yards on them. 515. About 200 more than Toledo got in that game on them. So how did Arkansas only score 12 points on over 500 yards? Toledo played mistake-free ball, while Arkansas had a turnover. Wait, that still doesn't explain the offense only scoring 10 pts (their D scored 2 on a safety)! 515 yards and only 10 pts? 30 first downs to Toledo's 15? 38m time of possession VS Toledo's 22m? HOW?? Their QB threw for just over 60% compared to Toledo's just over 50%....
... Arkansas couldn't "punch it in". Much like the last drive of the game -- they'd stall when getting in position to score.
All in all though, this was a better Toledo team than the one playing at home against NIU. A lot better. Ely's no star QB, but he was better -- throwing for a bit over 50%, no INTs, 2 TDs, and they averaged 4.7 yards per rush... on the road @CMU while more importantly, keeping CMU's dangerous O in check in overall stats (but allowed them back in the game and still remained ya-never-know scary).
This is the Toledo we should expect. Not the 2nd half against UMass that was Amazing... nor the Toledo who played at home and laid an egg against NIU. Solid D, solid balanced O. They don't scream "MAC Champs", but if Ely is on target -- or he's at least doing OK and their running game's hitting it's stride -- they do seem like it. Consistency though will cost them. They're not going to beat both WMU + @BGSU.

I like what Bonamego is doing at CMU.
Enos left him a mess, and he turned it into a reasonable competitor.
As he incorporates his own systems, and hires his own coaching staff (will be interesting to see what changes are made after this season), CMU will be strong again.
For the immediate, however: 41-39, back-to-back, four-outta-five.
Enjoy the remainder of the season and thanks for posting here.
