The last time the Cajuns came calling to play South, many thought that game would be a laugher. They also didn't think the Jaguars deserved to be on the same field with UL. Outcome: Jags won 30-8. Don't really remember what the spread was, but I'd guess about 2 TDs.

Our starting quarterback had broken his throwing arm the week before in a game we lost to ULM. His backup had almost no gameday experience. I don't think many of us thought it would be a laugher.

Posters back then did, regardless of who was quarterback.

You mean, like this guy?

I suspect USA will come at us with all they've got. And, if by gametime the Belt opponent in the GoDaddy Bowl still has not been announced, you can bet that USA will believe (and should believe) that they've still got a shot at that bowl.

Advantage Jags: Home field advantage, emotional last game for founding players, healthy experienced quarterback.

Advantage Cajuns: Overall talent, desire to get a championship alone, potential double digit win season. Big game experience.

Negatives Jag: Big game experience.

Negatives Cajuns: road trip, first time starting quarterback with little game experience.

Look, with the exception of one or two Cajun posters who stated they were confident that the Cajuns would win, I didn't see a SINGLE Cajun poster talking about a laugher. Maybe the posts are there and I didn't see them, but I looked at several threads and those posted above represent the general theme of what was said about our prospects.

Now, the posters who were giving you guys some crap about the upcoming game with the Cajuns were mostly Ga Southern fans. Don't know why, but it's there in the record.05-stirthepot

Not really I think most Georgia Southern posters could care less who wins this game after all we have the number one defense in the conference at Troy to worry about. It should be entertaining one so I'm looking forward to watching it though.

Perception. Some here don't like us and make us wear the black hat. It's a main reason (aside from the continued name disrespect) that my post count has dropped off here.

I've always said call us Cajuns. But I still see too much of what we don't want to be called and I feel like we aren't wanted here.

Try to stick around and contribute more Astro.

Disrespect on the name issue has all but disappeared. While I've made it clear to posters here that we Cajun fans prefer Louisiana or Cajuns for our team brand, ULL is still acceptable. I believe that's a reasonable compromise and others seem to agree. I've also made it clear that the use of ULaLa, ULaffy, etc is obvious trolling and will be met with swift and non-negotiable justice on my part. I don't catch them all, but stick around and you'll note the difference.

Respect is obviously something everyone has to earn and as far as wearing the black hat, that's usually an honor given to the squads that are doing well on the field. While we've sucked this year in football, you and I both know that there's reason to be really optimistic about our prospects in basketball, baseball, and softball for the upcoming season.

As the saying goes, living well is the best revenge. You need to be here Astro to enjoy the moment.04-cheers

Great post CF. I would also add that it is a definite troll to call ULM 'Louisiana.' They are proud to be the ULM Warhawks, and we are proud to be the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. Very simple, really.

Any ULM fan who wishes to use Louisiana Warhawks will never hear a peep out of me. As you've noted though, they seem to have embraced ULM as their athletic brand and that works fine for everyone.

Now, an LTU-R fan showing up here and using Louisiana Warhawks is an obvious troll and should get the silver hammer treatment.

Agreed: guess I had that ron burgundy idiot troll and his latest idiot troll post here when I made that comment. Guess those little fellas will never learn that the more they post and troll us, the more it disproves all that 'seperation' nonsense they like spew out every now and ten, lol.

The center of the not caring about the Cajun athletic program universe can be found under the water tower just off I-20 in North-central Louisiana.

And if you believe that the water tower is not an important Ruston landmark, just check out their wikipage.

LOL: so I'm bored at work and decided to versify your claim about the water tower....it really does has a very prominent place on their page, lol! And they have a chase bank branch, too. Golly gee!!

But you are wrong about the flush toilets: installing them was not the issue....it is getting them trained to use them that is an on-going concern. But we kid Rustonia...

BTW, I've always wondered: they list the population as 20K. Does that include the ltu-r students???
