Troy 2015 = App State 2014
Time to give these guys credit. They have looked like a top Sun Belt team for 3 games now. If they beat us next week they are going to be bowl eligible.

RE: Troy 2015 = App State 2014
Thanks for the pat on the back.

45-7 at halftime when we beat NMSU at their house. 48-14 vs ULM at halftime tonight. 44-41 three OT loss at The Rock. These guys have played very well in their last three games.

We now have the #1 scoring defense in the SBC. If you remember how bad our defense has been in the last five years, you'll know what an amazing feat this is.

#12 Charleston Southern is 8-1 tonight. Their only loss is Troy where we had them down 44-9 with two minutes left to play before they scored a garbage time TD against backups. I can only imagine that helped Troy prepare for Georgia Southern. They're likely not as good, but they run the TO pretty well and beat #1 Coastal last week. They should be in the Top 10 this week.

I don't know if what Georgia Southern fans said at the beginning of the season is still true, but I remember a lot of talk about not being great at stopping hurry up passing offenses. I think this will be a great game win or lose.

Me.

GS @ Troy: Ask any Georgia Southern fan what type of offense they'd least like to face and I think you would say it's a passing offense that runs at a fast pace. Troy might need to do some rebuilding on the roster but what they do offensively is definitely our kryptonite. We can make passing offenses look better than they are. This one could be a shootout.

RE: Troy 2015 = App State 2014
We have looked good the past 3 weeks but the next 3 games are going to tell us where we are. We have G. Southern at home, G. State on the road on Black Friday and close out on the road at ULL.

Troy is a lot better than we were last year and the past few years.

Are we "back"? I would say not yet. If we can close out with 3 more wins + a bowl game I would say we were a lot closer. Troy that everybody knows and loves would not have lost to South or Idaho and probably would've beaten App St last week.

Trojans remaining schedule is very difficult. If they were to somehow run through and win the next 4, they would deserve a bowl. Even if it does mean a game in Tuscon on a channel that only Martians get.

Not saying ULL and Ga State are push overs

But if we beat Ga Southern at home next weekend I like our chances to be bowling in Montgomery

Back to the main topic

Our schedule sets up for a nice App state like run in 2016

We play Austin Peay, UMass, Southern Miss and Clemson OOC

If we progress like we have we could go 3-1 with that OOC schedule

I agree... It's 45mins up the road. We could sell that stadium out alone.

Not to menchion the bowl president use to to our Athletic Director

If Troy is ever in that bowl, it would be a good idea to get tickets as soon as the game is announced or risk being on the outside looking in.

Season ticket holders and Donors would get first dibs.... I'm both.

Legit chance we could have an absolute mess of a bowl scenario though if Troy was to get eligible.

1. Arkansas State 9-3 (8-0)
2. Appalachian State 10-2 (7-1)
3. Georgia Southern 8-4 (6-2)
4. UL-Lafayette 6-6 (5-3)
5. Troy 6-6 (5-3)

You would then have the lovely situation of having 2 local bowls, who could potentially both take the 6-6 local teams over teams with far better records. if AState wins the league in that scenario, they get guaranteed likely Go Daddy.

That could potentially mean 10-2 Appalachian State is sent to Tuscon, AZ and all hell will break loose with Benson getting deluged on Twitter by people openly wondering why the SBC would allow two 6-6 teams to get selected for a bowl before a 10 win team.

RE: Troy 2015 = App State 2014
TROY VERSUS THE SPREAD • RECENT GAMES

Troy vs NMS • Troy by 6 • 52-7
Troy vs APP • App by 23 • 41-44 OT Loss
Troy vs ULM • Troy by 9 • 51-14

BONUS

Troy vs CSU • Troy by 3 • 44-16

Vegas has some catching up to do. Though, I don't think we should or will be favored versus Georgia Southern. We can win if we play our game, but we can't come out nervous or needing to win. Trust the process and play the game.

The only way for both ULL and Troy to be bowl eligible is for ULL to beat App State, which could give them 2 conference losses.

Nope. ULL is 4-4 and still has USA and NMSU left. They could win both of those and get to 6 wins.

App has a fairly large and vocal internet presence, that would be interesting.

I don't like having this discussion. With this year's team, I believe the coach Brown approach is best...."Focus your attention to the next play & not the outcome."
