I saw this on their site - and if I read it correctly, it sounds like someone filed a Title IX suit against the JMU band. The reason apparently stems from the band's pelvic gyrations during a performance of "Get it On" at their homecoming activity? Hyper may know and confirm. The comments made it sound like this was not an uncommon song or activity by the band members while playing it.

I know they have a big band and are reportedly esteemed in their field. Their own fans seem to think the whole commotion meaningless. I'm sure the hypocrite who complained about the Tribe fans cursing while behind a young girl in Section C probably thinks the band's performance is just great (it was I think a woman with a young child who started this suit).

Just wondering on this one. I tend to agree it's stupid (the lawsuit) - but to me, you wouldn't see a real first class band - Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas, etc. - do something like this?

I, too, disagree with the formal complaint and abuse of Title IV...I really don't think Title IV language was intended to cover Elvis' or JMU band's pelvic thrusts. Whatever happened to addressing a complaint to the band leader and going up the chain until you feel satisfied with the outcome? I don't file a lawsuit when my hamburger is overcooked.

Reggie Bush is trying to sue St. Louis, too. That'll probably get just as much traction, although it would be nice to get a "ridiculous lawsuit" section added to his Wikipedia page or something.

Whole thing reminds me of VT and the "stick it in" song they used to play when in the redzone.

When I was in school five years ago, the Tribe pep band had a similar number for red zone offense. As far as I could tell, we loved it.

In today's climate I'm sure that would earn summary execution from the People's Tribunal.
