Beamer retiring
Frank Beamer announced today that he will be stepping down at the end of the current season.

I would not be surprised to see them go outside the program to pick a new coach, even with Shane Beamer and Bud Foster on campus.

I think it will be Foster. He's turned down a number of other gigs (HC and DC with bigger programs) which only make sense if he had a very strong assurance he's the best guy up. They need some serious help with offense though.

RE: Beamer retiring
I had heard from very reliable sources Coach Beamer wanted to stay on and coach the VT game in Bristol, Va/Tn game. He has had some health problems that no doubt has hasten his retirement.
He is a classy gentleman and brought a great deal of notoriety to football in the state of Virginia and all the talent in the 757. There is no need to dwell on what some people did after they left and gained fame and fortune....look at USC and many other schools.

It has to make all of us wonder how much longer JL will be the Chief of The Tribe...

Jimmye and Beamer are very close friends...Beamer was at the Laycock opening and spoke one year at the Tribe Football Dinner in June. They play golf often.

Agree, a very classy guy and a true Hokie.

He made supporting Tech acceptable in my book. Humble and soft spoken at the helm.

Going to throw a dart or two here, I would say:

Rich Rod, Tuberville, Matt Campbell (Toledo HC) and Matt Rhule (Temple) would be guys they would probably want to look at. First two have name recognition, last two are hot non-power 5 coaches right now.

This, +100. Frank Beamer is the classiest person in the VT family. They won't know what they've lost until he is gone.
