question for the x-men fans (red woof fans)
how in the world did ga. state have a lead in the 4th quarter against the most talent ever assembled this side of the sec? (source: semenhole injun)

has ga. state improved that much since they lost to charlotte? did some evil force have some type of kryptonite in the stadium slowing down the x-men capabilities? (i know kryptonite works against superman but i don't keep up with superheroes so i don't know what weakens x-men)

who wins the battle of the asu's?

both struggled against the bottom of the conference. i know that none of this affects me directly but i still follow the sunbelt and will be following the battle of the asu's closely. when is it played? is it on tv? i'd like to watch it. i've seen the x-men against south al but i haven't seen appy state play yet.

thanks in advance.

RE: question for the x-men fans (red woof fans)
Bottom line is Astate was flat until the 4th quarter. Outside of a kick return Gastate didn't score in the 2nd half.

When are you guys ever going to win anything meaningful? 07-coffee3

We used to refer to ourselves as ASU until we joined the Sun Belt, and because Arkansas State was here first, we refer to ourselves now as just APP State!

let's not get into a name debate.

i want to know why both of the schools struggled against conference bottom feeders with both games at home.

big heads? overlooking the opponent? or vast improvement in the opponents?

on a related subject. what about the job the ga state coach is doing? a lead against the x-men in the 4th quarter. i'm guessing he's due an extension with the job he's done. it takes awhile to turn around a ship. it's looking like he's turned it around in atlanta to me!

no hurt here. life is good. my football team is rolling. i'm headed to miami this month to watch us rack up points on fiu. then i drive over to fort myers to watch our basketball team in a 3 day 3 game tourney. drive back on thanksgiving just in time to watch my football team rack up points on marshall which should be a one game playoff to see who hosts the conference championship game.

no way it's better than that.

you shouldn't dwell in the past panama. you should be thrilled that your football coach has righted the ship. you've won some games this year. you just played the best team in the conference hella game AT THEIR PLACE. your lack of football knowledge is showing by not seeing what he's done. and how close he is to competing for a sunbelt championship.

i'm calling it here. you guys beat ga southern! mark down december 5th on the schedule as a shout out to the rest of the conference. i'll definitely offer up a brewski on that one. 04-cheers

you heard it here first.

p.s. as impressed as i am with the job head coach trent miles has done western would skull drag your panthers. but we've been doing quite a bit of that. 04-cheers

Oh Beed, you know well enough by now not to associate anything Seminole says with the rest of our fan base.

Georgia State gave us all sorts of problems this week because we have trouble slowing down teams with 1 good wide receiver and a good passing QB. Fortunately for us, most of the SBC is run first.

every year semenhole injun drops knowledge that the talent level on ark. state far surpasses anything assembled short of the sec.

nobody ever refutes him and says you don't. you do say he's not an actual fan but nobody ever says no....we don't have that level of talent. so there must be folks in agreement with him.

i know last year you guys had dee line problems right? so the issue is in the secondary now? last year we had a terrible dee. it has improved enough to help our offense this year.

what kind of offense does appy state run? run first or air it out? anyhoo. i'll be watching and good luck. shouldn't pull for anyone but got the feeling i'll be pulling for the red woofs vs. the new guys.

The Sun Belt football coaches ad beat writers agreed with him, when they selected their preseason all-conference team.

You need to gather up your WKU info for when I'm over on the CUSA board curious. Take your time though.

has ga. state improved that much since they lost to charlotte? did some evil force have some type of kryptonite in the stadium slowing down the x-men capabilities? (i know kryptonite works against superman but i don't keep up with superheroes so i don't know what weakens x-men)

who wins the battle of the asu's?

both struggled against the bottom of the conference. i know that none of this affects me directly but i still follow the sunbelt and will be following the battle of the asu's closely. when is it played? is it on tv? i'd like to watch it. i've seen the x-men against south al but i haven't seen appy state play yet.

thanks in advance.

We don't normally refute Seminole because we'd rather not waste the time trying. Now, that being said, we are a more talented team than Georgia State, App is more talented than Troy, but both Georgia State and Troy used good scouting, and knew they had one or two advantages.

In Georgia State's case, they know that our defense has struggled to stay with top receivers in man coverage. Toledo, USC, and to a lesser extent USA proved that. They had a couple very good receivers, and took full advantage of Arbuckle's ability to hit receivers in stride and torched us. They then used film of ULL successfully running the stretch play on us because of a flaw in our line schemes, and managed to run enough to ensure we couldn't commit a 2nd defender to those receivers.

In the 2nd half, we made the adjustment to the run issues, allowing us to bring extra help in on Hart and Davis. Once they were slowed down, the Panthers offense got into more 3rd and longs, and our defense does what it does best, force turnovers.

I didn't see the 2nd half of App and Troy, but I know App played zone the entire first half basically, and silvers was able to use short quick routes to take advantage of the weak spots in the zone. I can only guess if App adjusted to that at halftime.

nobody knows. we picked up a player who very well might be the best player in the conference and that's with stud freeman coming back for odu. his name is fred edmonds. remember that name.

we have 8 new players (10 counting walk ons). we are coming off the least amount of athletic ability that western has ever had. even though fant and tj were all conference type players the next time tj price guards someone will be the first.

we also picked up aaron cosby who is a 5th year graduate senior from illinois. with him and fred ed we have 2 very nice pieces in the backcourt. chris harrison docks has been starting at point since he got here. even though he's a junior and will start if he doesn't watch it a freshman point god from memphis will push him.

we have our 7'1 englishman back and he made huge strides last year. if he improves as much from sophomore to junior year as he did last year he'll be something. we signed a 7'2 englishman. he's a project. they have had the nickname 'swatland yard' dropped on them. it's a classic.

justin johnson is a 6'7 jumping jack power forward who spelled fant last year but will probably start this year. picked up a juco power forward to help out on the front line. he shows potential to climb the glass. aleks rostov is a senior. showed great promise end of his freshman year. developed a blood clot and sat out half his soph year. wasn't the same guy last year. if he's even back to freshman level he'll help out off the bench.

nigel snipes is a 5th year senior who for the last 3 years has been called the best player in practice. unfortunately he's always one of the worst in games. they believe he's got over whatever has been bothering him.

so there's some excitement simply because we won't be the least athletic team in our conference this year. but it'll take awhile to gel that many newcomers. ray harper has shown he can win games. i'm more excited than i've been since courtney lee's last year simply because we can guard people this year.

i'm pumped about that tourney in fort myers. it's gonna be a great road trip for me. a day of football in miami and then 3 days of hoops in fort myers. no big name teams and not really a loaded tourney. should give us a chance to try out some combinations.
