CAA Week 9
Another pretty good slate of games and once again our game appears to be top billing as far as the leadership goes in the CAA.
I'm hoping we come out today as we did at Villanova and play full throttle. If so, I think we win 38-27, in that range. The defense should apply frequent pressure on the new QB. Vad Lee, at least on stats, seems to be a bigger loss than Robertson at Villanova.
Two good mid-pack games:
Delaware at Towson: I still feel the Hens are solid and will pull this one out. If so, the Hens suddenly move into the upper tier with only 2 losses in conference and some nice wins under their belt.
Maine at Villanova: bunched together in the standings though I think Villanova pulls this out easily. Their schedule down the stretch still has UR and JMU. Unless they sweep the remaining, I don't think they have any playoff hopes, already 4 losses. Win them and possibly.
Great scheduling at Richmond. They play last place UAlbany, completing their full run against the lower end of the CAA. They finish with a tougher stretch than we do with Villanova and UNH on the road and then our game at UR.
Our opponent next week, Elon, is at Stony Brook which has been on their own losing skid. URI plays at UNH.
Go Tribe!

Get to 8 wins and none of them need to be signature.

UNH with 20 unanswered in the 2nd half have the ball in URI territory with about 3:30 to go and a 3 point lead.

Nova up 6-0 in the 2nd over Maine. Kicking game still sucks. Missed the XP off the upright and missed wide 31 and 39 yarders.

Do we have the only competent kicker in the conference? Not slighting Dorka, he's been fantastic, but it seems like nobody else has even an average kicker.

Our kicking/punting game has been truely been fantastic. Carpenter was very good, and had been highly rated and recruited and I feared there would be a big drop-off in this part of our game when he graduated but I think Dorka and Windmuller constitute the best K/P game the Tribe has had in some time.

JMU suffered THREE blocked extra points in ONE game. That's the kind of crap you hear about in high school football games.

The last one was on the kicker though. We made a good push through the line, but he kicked it straight into them.

Worth noting: Albany, Elon, Stony Brook, Rhody, Maine, and Delaware cannot win 7 games this season.

RE: CAA Week 9
We've had a huge turn around in special teams play from 4-5 years ago when it was an issue, both in kicking and defending against kicks. Kudos to the special teams coaches and players.

This is NOT really a very strong year for the CAA this season. As you said, 6 teams have no shot at 7 wins and a couple more have next to no shot. The bottom of the league is bigger than usual (more bad teams than usual). I don't see more than 3-4 CAA teams in the Playoffs. The only variable is that there really doesn't seem to be a large number of great FCS teams in ANY League this year.
Injuries really scuttled Nova and UNH and Stony Brook just imploded.
Nova has URI, UR and JMU to finish up and UNH has UR, Albany and Maine. I don't see either of them beating Richmond or JMU, so Towson, with Maine, us and Rhode Island is the Wild Card.

The CAA's strength is in VA this year, whose teams are doing very well. After that it gets much thinner than usual. I never know what to think about Maine. It seems to me that their teams traditionally are capable, but not consistent.
