It's hard to believe. I went to the Tennessee - Kentucky game a few weeks ago and the place was barely even half full and the fans there didn't even care about the game. Just a really odd atmosphere for a 5-2 team (at the time) in the SEC.

Also, Kentucky is an extremely poorly coached football team. I've always felt that way since Stoops arrived and nothing has changed that belief. Tennessee was playing an offensive lineman the whole second half who couldn't even get out of his stance because he had a concussion and the DL still gave almost zero effort. He should thank Botch Jones for going ultra conservative late in that game when they had a chance to put it away.

I still cant get over what has happened to the SEC East. Georgia is good and the rest of that division is absolutely terrible.

They're the worst 6-3 I've ever seen (probably should've lost to Eastern Michigan and Tennessee...but at least the games are all close so you get some excitement, right? I said when they were 5-1 that they will end up 6-6 and could easily end up 5-7 and barring some craziness happening in the Commonwealth Cup, they probably should be 6-6.

Their wins are by 7 to a ****** Southern Miss team at home, by 11 to a terrible FCS team (EKU) at home, by 4 against a ****** Eastern Michigan at home, by 6 against a ****** Mizzou who at the time had one win against a ****** FCS team, by 3 against a ****** Tennessee team, and by 10 against an average at best South Carolina team. Hell, our schedule runs circles around theirs and we're a few bounces or errant Hayden Moore throws away from having the same record. They are the epitome of paper tiger, and Vince Morrow just keeps dropping the bag for kids. Love it!

How about UC winning out and then beating an overrated Kentucky in the Birmingham Bowl? I'm probably dreaming about UC finishing that strong but that would certainly be an incredible turnaround after early season woes against a really tough schedule.

Do you think a 6-6 UC would be able to.play a SEC team? From watching our team this year, I would honestly rather just hide in some bowl vs a MAC or CUSA team in fear of getting embaressed.

Good point. But to reach six wins, we'd have to see a much improved UC team down the stretch anyway. So I guess in that case, I'd take my chances against UK as I think our guys could be passionate about that matchup vs. playing any MAC opponent.

Either way, just to have a bowl conversation this season would be a nice change of pace.

Honestly, I just think this team would benefit so much from the extra practices it would be worth it. Plus I would rather play a big team in a decent spot, regardless if we'd get stomped.

Miami U. wasn't very good last year and still almost took down Mississippi State.

RE: FB Class of 2020
Here are the bowl tie-ins for this season (does not include potential access bowl for highest ranked G5 school):

AutoNation Cure Bowl vs. Sun Belt
– Boca Raton vs. Conference USA
– Birmingham Bowl vs. SEC
– Hawaii Bowl vs. Mountain West
– Frisco Bowl vs. Sun Belt
– Military Bowl vs. ACC
– Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl vs. Conference USA

Playing this out, I think UCF or Memphis has a really good chance for an access bowl if they win out. I think odds are the loser goes to Birmingham to play the SEC school. After that it seems the powers that be try and slot people into bowl games that make some geographic sense. For instance, my hunch would be that SMU falls to the Frisco Bowl in suburban Dallas. USF will likely go to one of the bowl games in Florida.

If I were a betting man, IF we become bowl eligible we will go to the Cure Bowl (vs. SBC) or to Boca (vs. C-USA)

Just for ****'s and giggles I looked at APR rankings for this season.

https://www.sbnation.com/college-footbal...ligibility

UC is mid 30's currently. They are also above the APR threshold of 960 to become bowl eligible at 5-7 IF there aren't enough teams that are 6-6 or above. Always best to qualify the right way, but there is some wiggle room if we go 5-7.

There are a bunch of FCS schools on that list. We are in good shape - better to win 3 to earn it the normal way though.

On another note, can this be separated from the 2020 recruiting thread. Good discussion but not really on topic.

I was thinking the same thing....It was probably my comment that started that dive down the rabbit hole.

Considering Southern Miss, a terrible FCS team (EKU), and Eastern Michigan all hung with this supposed SEC team, I think UC will be alright.

We could host the universe's #1 recruit in 2020 for all i care. None of those dudes are gonna make up their mind anytime soon....much less come to UC

As far as 2020 is concerned wake me up when the 2019 class is in the books.

Yeah, why are we even bothering bringing them onto campus?

Wodtly makes sense to try. Johnson and Henry cannot cost much since they are local so not waste but no chance.

They all make sense to try. This is recruiting.

Jesus people, should we not have tried 4 star Josh Whyle since Urban was knocking down his door? Should we have told 4 star Malik Vann to stay home because MSU was a lock? Should we have given up on 4 star Tavion Thomas when he committed to Oklahoma? Maybe BDF should have told 4 star Leonard Taylor to watch the Big Ten network instead of visiting. If the parents hadn't intervened, I'd be able to add 4 star Aeneas Hawkins to this list.

This is recruiting. This is how you f*cking recruit.
