Seems fairly simple to me. Georgia Southern runs very well...Texas State can't stop the run.

And even then, I think we doubled up on your rushing defense averages (if not, it was close), it's just ya'll still didn't give up a lot.

This is one of those games where we see how good the coaching staff is and if they still have the full attention of the players After a loss like last week a good coaching staff can get the players to shake it off and stay focused. I think we will win but how we play and execute will tell me a lot for the rest of the season. I think this team needed a good slap in the face loss to a non elite P5 to show them little things matter.

What kind of scheduling is this anyway?

Georgia Southern plays Thursday last week, Texas State plays Saturday, then TXST is the travelling team for a Thursday matchup? Get better at scheduling Sun Belt.

That's exactly what we did last week. Teams have to do this all the time, not just in the Sun Belt.

Close, but not exactly. App played on Saturday before the Thursday game last week. Had GS played in Boone on Saturday instead of Thursday it would be a bit different.

My condolences in advance to Texas State. It really isn't fair you have to play GaSo next, and on a short week.

Fran was asked about this in his post game presser and said he wasn't thrilled about it (the scheduling) and already mentioned it to Karl.

I side with the couple of App state posters on here. We should get beat by 3 scores easy and if we don't then Georgia Southern fans need to worry about their productivity on offense going further.

The one thing I saw App do well was keep the Eagle running game to the center of the field. They never let many plays happen on the edge and forced them to beat them going up the middle. If we can do this and offense is lighting it up then we've got a shot to keep it close.

I was confident in our defense at the beginning of the year and felt this was a W for us but after the injuries and defensive performances vs Southern Miss and UH the writing was on the wall that I needed to start forecasting the L

Too late now to complain about the schedule . .. . .

.. . all we can do is what everyone else does .. . play who's in front of us. . .

Hell, I didn't like that 2 of our last 4 opponents were Bye . . . .

. . . . though that may turn out to be a blessing . ..

With all the injuries we had at the time I think the two byes in three weeks ended up being a positive in the end.

We were significantly healthier against USA than we were against ULL or UH.

I don't have the numbers, and am too lazy to look, but I am willing to be that the visiting team on Thursday night games has a less than 25% winning percentage. Its tough on any team to travel on a short week and be successful.

Our attendance will be down for this game but we should have a full and rowdy student section on top of the TxSt bench which will be a nice change of pace from the last two games against TxSt.

That would be an interesting stat to see...

Did a quick look - there have been 12 Thursday games since Week 2 (not counting week 1 since you don't have a short week to prepare for that one). The visiting team has won 5 of them, so ~42%.

That's only FBS games, and only Thursday, not counting Tuesday or Friday games.

Adding in Tuesday and Friday games, the win percentage jumps to 43.8% (14 victories in 32 games played).

IMO too small a sample size... I would be interested to see how that # compared to overall visiting teams' winning % over a 5 year period.

If Texas St crowds the box which they will and can limit our running game it could be interesting.

Right now I will say GS 35 Texas St 24

GASO will win this one by at least three touchdowns. I can't see them losing anymore games in the conference this year.
