Finishing ranked might be doable with the right bowl, but I think you can forget about the access bowl.

Agree. Quite frankly, I really don't even think about such a thing based on what we face over the next several weeks to come. If, and say IF, we got to 11-1, then I might give it some consideration but right now I worry about Troy.

Satterfield and Fritz are similar in that regard. Neither is into rubbing it in and both will take a knee rather than grind an opponent into the ground.

Our former coach Monken would have been calling timeouts to run up the score in that instance but Fritz won t do that and it was good to see that Satterfield won t either.

The Access Bowl is so unlikely at this point that it's almost not worth talking about. All we can do at this point is keep playing our game how we've been playing and hope for a conference championship and bowl win.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still hoping for an Access Bowl spot but in the very likely event that we don't get it, I hope we can all appreciate how special this season has been and hopefully, will continue to be.

-First App has to run table to 11-1, only loss to current #3 Clemson.

- Memphis has Tulane (W), Navy (W-L), Houston (W-L), Temple(W-L), and SMU(W) remaining. They have three games that are potential tossups, and both Houston and Temple are road games. I think they likely lose two.

- Houston has Vandy (W-L), Cincy (W-L), Memphis (W-L), UConn (W), and Navy (W-L) remaining. No gimme games for these guys either, they lose at least one maybe two.

-Temple has Notre Dame (L), SMU (W), USF(W), Memphis (W-L), and UConn (W) left. For sure one loss, but they get Memphis at home. If they lose one they shouldn't they are out.

The X factor here is Navy, they control their own destiny and are at 5-1. They play both ranked teams in Memphis and Houston, if they win out their only loss would be to #9 Notre Dame. They also could very well lose one or two they shouldn't but spoil Memphis or UH's seasons.

Will be an interesting back stretch.

You're forgetting Toledo who is 18th in the country right now, and has no real difficult games remaining.

I mentioned them in a post after the one I did about the AAC situation.

Bowling Green is pretty good. Long shot we make a NY6 but not impossible.

Bowling Green and Toledo will likely play twice in two consecutive weeks: they play the regular season finally and are both likely to win their divisions putting them both in the MAC championship game.

For an 11-1 App to sniff the access bowl, every other G5 would need 2 loses - certainly possible but odds are at least one other will have 1 or 0 losses. Memphis deserves it at this point.

I don't either, that's why I mentioned other teams. If enough top 25 teams **** the bed we might sneak in.

its going to take the other G5 teams that are already ranked, losing some games. Temple has Notre Dame this week and Houston at Vandy. Also need the P5's in front of to start losing while we win out. but we also need to be convincing in our wins

Beimg ranked has nothing to do with other G5 teams already being ranked. We just need to keep winning and a few teams ahead of us need to lose. Teams will lose so we just need to hold up our end.

I think even an 11-1 App team won't be ranked in the regular season but if you win your bowl game and have some of the top 25 loose we could see a top 25 App at the end of the bowl season.

At this rate an 11-1 team is ranked, but there's a lot of football left to be played.

Yeah but it's the sunbelt and you've already cleared georgia southern, you only have one or two games that you even have a shot at losing left baring some sort of catastrophe.

RE: App State receiving votes in AP poll!!
ya, lets pump the breaks, we still have some tough games left, remember Ark ST,? Even if we win out, the odds are really against us getting to the Access Bowl, and honestly, after watching some of those teams ahead of us, especially Houston and Memphis, we are a ways behind those guys in terms of overall talent and depth. I'll be happy with any bowl we get to this year.

Ok, App St started the season 1-5 last year and finished strong, is that correct? This season, the only loss was to Clemson...good luck this weekend. 04-cheers

App only has to be better than 4 other teams. Only conference champions are considered for the access bowl. Win out and cheer for the main contenders to get knocked out in their conference championship games.

I know you looked good this weekend, but it was NMSU. App is slightly better than they are.

If the CCG for the American features two 10-win teams, then chances are pretty strong they'd be ranked ahead of an 11-1 App State. And I'd be Okay with that. If App were to go 11-2 against Temple, Memphis, Houston, or Navy's schedule, I would think App would be more deserving than a team that went 11-1 against our schedule.

We know we have a decent defense. Our concern is getting the offense going. After a few changes, I'm cautiously optimistic that the light came on for the offense. Question is, fluke or stepping stone? I think you know my answer.
